Lightbulb Injection Pump Taping??

Just a thought either everbody has over looked or i just dosent work. Could you tap the wire for Injection Pump before the harness on the pump. Like taping it on the engine harness side. Just curious if anyone has tried to figure it out.

Why would you want to put tape on your IP?

Seriously though, I believe it has something to do with the comp module on the VP. There is only a certian limit of fuel you can add before it will not let you add any more and going on the inside of the pump bypasses it.

The only thing I can add is make sure you tap it correctly. Related to your dyno thread, I only rolled 525 after putting my hrvp in because I didn't get the wire tapped correctly the first time. Did 590 after tapping it right.

No mines is taped fine but a buddy of mine asked me about tapin it on the other side of the harness not on the pump side so if it every fail and you turned it in it showed no tampering wire splice. Is it possible to do such.

Im the friend that dzlfarmboy is asking for, I just put a scheid lighting pump on my truck in november and i haven't tapped the wire yet so i didn't void the warrenty. And i can't use a stealth plate because the screws on the pump cover has paint on them, so they can see if it has been tampered with. I was just wondering if it would work tapping the wire on the ecm side of the connector or did it have to be done right at the pump

I think the reason this idea won't work is the fact that the wire that needs tapped comes from the pump itself and back to the electronics on the pump. There is no connector to the engine harness.

I don't mean to sound like I don't believe this, but why wouldn't they keep the wire internal to the pump then? Perhaps have the wire on a circuit board? I would think if the wire comes out there is a reason it does.

Fair question I'd say, but I'm sure it has to do with that they use different electonics between HO and SO pumps as I understand it.

If you get a chance to study the pump, it might have to do with the location of the electronics on top, and the solenoid (I think?) is bolted in the bottom, rear of the housing. Pretty tough to have a replaceable/removable part with reliable connections inside the housing. Cheaper and easier to run a pair of wires back up the rear of the pump housing to the electronics package on top.
