If my truck already has been reprogramed????
If my truck already has been reprogramed????
Can I buy a smarty or edge and put it back to stock first then reprogram it the way I want. It was a wrecked truck out of a salvage yard so there is no way for me to find out if it was modified by the previous owner. As a last resort will i have to take it to a dealer to get it put back to stock. It had a pyrometer installed which is what is leading me to believe it is not stock.
do some searching...
a smarty reprograms, and even smartys "stock" program is better than stock, there would be no reason I know of why you would ever want it re-programmed by the dealer., unless there is an issue with standard vs auto or different yr ECM, and even then I dont know if this can be done
and edge "box" manulipates the signal after the PCM/ECM, so it does not re-program your truck.
if the donor ECM came from a truck that had a pyro on it, that would not mean that the ECM had been modified, if you had seen velcro strips on the underhood fusebox, that would most certainly confirm there had been an edge "box" installed
what is it exactly you are trying to do?

what programmer would you be wanting to use?
I'm not certain but I dont believe you need to be stock to start. or depending which way your going with your truck, a edge juice /adr (with built in gauges) might be a better and cheaper option,
programmers only add 60hp, boxes can add from 0-120hp depending on which one you get,
and before doing any of the above make sure you have addressed the stock substandard fuel system
