Cool I Smoked My First Powerstroke Tonight!!!

I work swingshift for a large metropolitan city in western Washington and have for years. I get off the same time every night so if you're observant you see some of the same sights and vehicles at least one or two times a week, sometimes more, on the ride home. I have occasionally noticed the newer white jacked up Ford diesel that'll hang back in traffic but seldom does he indicate he ever wants to "play". I'm cruising towards home about halfway from my 28 mile one way distance and off on a side road, who do I spot turning in behind me?? Now I'm doing 50 and as he's pulling out, I get some distance on him and would have never even noticed him if not for the lone traffic light stopping everyone heading in my direction, me included. I see him back there, over a lane and back 3 vehicles. I could see him working his way through traffic presumably becasue he's tired of following a 6 cylinder I guess. The way things work out, he's first at the light on this state route in the right lane and this is in a spot where it goes from 2 lanes down to one just on the other side of this light. IF I run this guy here, it won't take much to "win" as I'm in the left lane and he'd have to yield should things get close as his lane runs out but that wouldn't really be a contest at this particular spot, and I've seen cops at the store/gas station that occupies this section of the road across the street, so I decide I'll let him go and merge in front of me.....I'll be seeing him up ahead about 5 miles as there's a BIG, LONG 2 lane uphill state roadway dead ahead and I'll choose the spot. This will be ideal.... I could tell I was making him a wee bit nervous even tho I was hanging back a respectable distance and giving him plenty of room. We're heading south and go through the last traffic light and now the speed limit goes to a full 55 mph and the hill is coming up, less than a mile away now. He picks up the pace as there's absolutely no traffic, probably thinking I'll continue to hang back as he steps it up to about 65. Fine, I thought, my truck can do that too. So I move up a bit closer wondering what he's gonna do soon as he rounds the bend and starts heading up the hill. I KNOW what he's gonna do. He's gonna do the same thing I'd do in the same spot and that's PUT THE PEDAL DOWN soon as it goes to two lanes!! I caught a puff of smoke off that Powerstroke and the race was on!! I moved over to the left lane as he moved right and even thought about pulling up next to him, holding my speed, give him a wave and then mash it and move by him. But I didn't know what he had under the hood or how serious he was, so decided I wouldn't let up and I'd just keep on rolling, enjoying that Cummins horsepower and torque. I topped the hill doing over 90 mph and he was back aways but he definitely had his foot in it HARD but couldn't keep up, (from what I could tell looking in the rear view mirror and at night too). I saw plenty of BIODIESEL smoke from my truck so he probably got hungry after smelling the french fries cooking!! Anyways, that was my first Powerstroke sent DOWN IN FLAMES and that FELT KINDA GOOD!!!! I don't really want to make a habit of such fun on the way home but tonight I was in the mood. I wonder if he'll wanna play anymore on the way home???

He'll leave you alone for a little while......until he gets more mods & he'll be back. The Powerjokes never learn.....trust me! I have the same scenario travelling home....same trucks almost daily driving down I-79. Seems like they add more mods & come back for more. I beat a 6.0 Powerjoke last week while pulling my trailer.....saw him yesterday & he didn't even try to play, but he'll be back.

i have a friend with a 7.3 and a v10 and every time he sees me its ON! but he will never learn. The only time he can get me is if we start pushin around 70mph....i have to the high speed with the dually...but anything up to there towing or not i can almost always coal train him...he hates that cuz his 7.3 wont blow smoke...just dont get caught with your boost down.

haha that's funny. Yesterday I was just cruising around playing with the Smarty on SW7 and I spotted a PS pulling a pretty good load that I see quite often. He was just going around the interchange so I ducked in behind him. He must have seen me too as he really layed it on coming out onto the highway. Nice black cloud, not bad for a PS. I stayed with him up to cruise speed then pulled over one lane to pass. As I went by I clutched it and let the turbo slow down then let it back out and tromped on the brakes and gas at the same time. haha nice big cloud right over him. He flashed the lights a couple times so I waved back. He must be a maniac too.

That's the second time someone has come out and wanted to play at that spot. I guess my truck looks like a race truck, huh?? Usually, anytime I see anyone pull over in that right lane at that light there, I take that as an invite to run to see who can squeeze who at when the lane ends dead ahead*. In all the years I've lived around here, I have NEVER pulled anything over in that right lane for a run. Because that's what you're doing. You're either showing your ignorance in being in that right lane there. OR you're in a hurry and want to race. The problem (for them) is they don't have enough room, I don't care if you were running a AA/FC. IF I get the jump on you there at that light, I don't care what you're running. The big blue Dodge Cummins is gonna EAT YOU UP!! And YOU'RE gonna run outta pavement....
Ya, they'll never learn....

* Over the years I've seen some good racing here at this spot in the road. Motorcycles and real hotrods in that lane in that spot are common and left to pass. On my way in, I get a chuckle quite often as I see cars racing thru the light, jockying for position. (Why I don't know, as traffic is so bad at that time of day you really aren't going anywhere fast. From a dead stop or running at 50+, there's ALWAYS action here at this "T" intersection with very few accidents, I might add.) It goes from 2 lanes into one and in less than about a half of a city block right on the other side of a modern traffic signal, with the speed limit posted at 50 mph. As I had a 93 Dodge Cummins before this and travel this route home every night, anyone who's had the pleasure of owning and driving a bone stock first gen will appreciate the fact that, in that truck and at that spot, when it came to a race, I LEFT THAT PART OF THE FUN EQUATION TO EVERYONE ELSE!! The valve cover said it had 160 horsepower and fast it wasn't!! I wouldn't even look at em. But now???
