Im getting between 14 and 16 mpg with my current set up in my sig. In the summer I was getting 16 to 18, I know cold weather brought it down. Im wondering if there are any mods I can do to raise my fuel milage? Im probly gonna pick up some rv275's is there anything else I can do to increase milage besides changing my driving style?

 

losing the leveling kit would help some as well as going to a skinnier tire. make sure your air cleaner is clean and when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

 

Now that I think about it I haven't changed my fuel filter since last spring, and my air filter could probly be changed too. I just bought a brand new set of 315's so I'm gonna have to keep the leveling kit and tires.

Besides the Rv275's are there anyother products I could buy to increase mpg?

Do you think the rv275's are going to help your fuel mileage? If so, I might just have to order me some.... I think I'm down to 14 as well. Cold (ie. warm up time=no miles & burning fuel) will drop mgs...

 

What gear ratio do you have?

 

...as mentioned in a similar thread earlier, simply keeping the engine warm will maintain it's efficiency. Bill, of Montana, reminded many of us of the 'ol trick of putting cardboard with an 8" centered diameter hole in front of the radiator.

Since adding the cardboard trick last week, I no longer have the usual Cummins widely fluctuating thermostat. Today, in steady stop 'n go city driving at 55* ambient temperature, the engine maintained a steady warm temperature of about 180*. Morning warm-ups are understandably quicker. So, instead of firing her up on a cold morn and retreating back to the warm kitchen for more coffee and, of course, wasting fuel...I'm on the road.

Ive heard reports from other owners of RV275's givin up to 3 mpg better after enjoying the new power for a few weeks.

Also winter diesel fuel runs much worse then summer fuel. I alwayse loos 1-2 mpg in winter then gain it back in summer.
But the cardboard cover is a good idea as well. Couldnt hurt thats for sure.

 

mine has gone south to most likely its the injection pump 285000 k on it i have seen it go down over the last year they say this is a sigh the pump has timed it self out
