I finally got them!

I finally got my guages from Diesel performance products.

The boost guage was very simple to install. Not a problem. There is a 3/4 inch pipe plug next to the MAP sensor. Just remove it. I used a steel 3/4 to 1/2 bushing and then the 1/2 to 1/8 in a brass bushing. Beware there is a 1/2 pipe plug by the IAT sensor and its got anti-freeze behind it! OPPS! Truck pee'd on the shop floor!

I've got to order a tapped banjo from Geno's next for the fuel pressure. Several of you have a needle valve in the line. Where did you get it? Hardware store?

Now I'm being warned by local shops here to very careful drilling into the cast iron exhuast. It might crack or it's hard to drill and tap. Easy to mess up... I don't want to buy a exhaust manifold!

I was gun ho about drilling a hole and mounting a pyro but now it got me scared off a bit...

Yes, I want Pre-Turbo setup!

What should I do? Any suggestions?

Drill & tap it & be done, you won't crack the manifold. Those guys just wanted to scare you to pay them to do it And if you're ordering a tapped banjo, order a boost fitting that replaces one of your intake bolts, a lot cleaner setup than stacked pipe fittings

I got one pipe fitting at local oilfield/industrial supply. 3/4" pipe x 1/8" NPT. was like $0.84.

Well, I thank you both for the answers you have given.

I went out and was looking at pictures of everyone pyro setups and thinking they didn't have a probelm! I think I'm one of the few out here in Riggins Idaho that desided to go the extra mile with his Dodge Turbo Diesel! The few local shops have never seen or heard of it! - I was looking to borrow a drill and tap quick...

Oh I found the pyro instruction over and Fritz's Dodge Ram site and printed a copy out. Gave a good friend of mine (he is a retired machinist) a call last night and he said he would give my a hand. (Still kinda shaky about it... )

The extra bushing doesn't bother me. Well hidden up by the MAP sensor. I might order a boost bolt... Starting to count the pennies on the desk...

I think the biggest chour is getting everything routed for the A-pillar pod and down though the dash to the firewall. (Arrrgh! ) Trying to keep the underside of my dash neat.. I don't want it to look like my buddies ol' Chevy Truck and have the wiring attack your foot!

Now I got to gather up the nickles & dimes out of the couch to order the bango fittings. Hey anyone want to come over and watch TV?

Once again... THANK YOU! and I will keep you posted!

When I first tried tapping the exhast, I used a cheep tap and it rounded out the tap, didn't cut at all. So I ran down to Sears and they had a desent tap-did the job! By the way I did the dash mount, seeing that is where I am used to looking at the gagues on my 93. It took a little more work drilling the dash, fishing the wire through, but I am very pleased with the outcome. I aquired the Autometer "colbalt" searies which lite up blue. I do think that if the people before me had gagues-I would not of had to replace the head. And that is only if they let out of it when it was getting hot!

You shouldn't have any problems, just take your time and have a good tap!

drill on the "hump" of the manifold, not right in the center where the devider is on the inside (experience talkin) and if you can take your turbo off to do the drilling it will be LOTS better, i fought with mine to get the one bolt off, but i should have fought more. either way get all the shavings out. good luck,

and as far as mounting gages, i have seen nothing slicker than scottys dodge pod! check it out, no reduced visibility

Too late.. Guys...

But I'm impressed with these from DPP (DiPricol's). Very nice easy to see not bad on visiblity.

The Boost is hooked up.

The Pyro is getting done today at 10am... Buddy of mine going to show me exactly how to do it.

The Fuel pressure guage is on hold a few days. But Thanks to MLR1 he is sending me one tapped banjo bolt. Once Again THANKS to you MLR1 and the rest of you for helping out in this adventure!

Heck this morning it was snowing again... Cold wet and nasty... You have as much of the rain and snow as your Dodge will pull... Get the cloud hitched up!

No need, just consider it as paying it forward . Just be careful when you install that bolt. They have been known to break when over tightened .

If it were only that simple, I would be right over, hitch in hand .

Pyro is is drilled and tapped now... It really quite easy to do. I found some new tricks to make life even easier for some of you going to do it.

While your drilling the hole get someone to hold a shop vacuum right next to the drill bit. Drill slow and keep the vacuum on it. After the hole is drilled to size (5/16 inch) you can look inside with a bright shop and check for chips. Easy way to get them out is a Q-Tip! Yes a Q-Tip! The metal chip stick to the cotton quite well.

Now tap your hole using grease on your tap. Just a little bit to keep the chips from fall into the manifold and also to lubracate the tap. Take you time can clean the tap often. About every 2 full turns pull it out and clean and re-grease the tap.

After the hole is tapped run your Q-tip around inside the tapped threads to pick up the leftovers. Also do the bottom of the manifold again.

Assemble the rest of the pyro guage as instructed by the manual.

So far the guage performs quickly. From a cold start the guage jumps right up to 250*F in 2 or 3 seconds.

I didn't realize I've been shutdown down the truck to early when I got home... OPPS! 600*F on pyro... Now I'm waiting about 2 minutes for it to cool down to 300*F before I shutdown.

For all of you that don't have guages on you trucks! GO GET THEM! You won't be sorry for doing it! It will keep you from beating up a good DODGE CUMMINS!
