I don't know what I have
You know I have had my truck about three years now and finally got on a site to see what all the fuss was about when it comes to driving a cummins. I really have no clue what I have, all I know is that it is a 2000 2500 long bed with an extended cab, six speed and about to turn over 200,000 on the odo. I really need to know about up keep and performance. I've been told that it has aftermarket exhaust and it does have an exhaust brake with a boost and exhaust temp gauge on the drivers side. I really love this truck and want it to last a long time just don't know what I need to do to get it to that 1 million mile mark along with having some fun and putting some performance stuff on it. I'm in Va Beach. Thanks for any help.
NavyDiesel. I would suggest getting a fuel pressure gauge to complement your other gauges. Our trucks are notorious for failing lift pumps, a lift pump supplies the injection pump with the fuel coming from the tank. If the lift pump fails it will cause the injection pump to fail. A injection pump costs about $1,000, so a gauge can save you some big money in the long run.
Performance gains are easy on these truck, but like everything there is a formula to follow. You have a great source for diesel performance products right in your area. TRE Diesel is owned by Tim Barber (Timinva) is his user name on this site.
