hy35 turbo?

How much boost is safe to run with the stock hy35 turbo? And what do you think is the most horsepower it can handle with 4" MBRP exhaust and better intake? I got the bug guys! And what would happen if you just disconnected the map sensor? The set up I have right now does not have a boost fooler, and I was wondering the cheapest way around this.

Boost

Not to much more than about 30. I loved my hy with the stuck wastegate. I got rid of it because with all the extra fuel I was running 37 psi and thats a very scarry number with that turbo. So I bought the htb2, wow what a diff. If you unplug you map it will do nothing with out a boost fooler so dont waste your time. Get the JWA and you will be very happy.

Yeah, CTD01's right. No matter how much boost you put in the engine, it won't eat it unless you get a boost fooler.

On my HY after about 300 ponys it was getting marginal. It starts to get ineffecient (ie pushing hot air) around the 27psi mark. Just normal driving it was ok actually great with the quick spool up but when you used the power it started to choke and egts would go through the roof. I do a lot of towing/hauling here in the mountains and egts started to become a real problem. After the Smarty went on the thing would bark at every shift to the point that I couldnt drive through it or around it. Now that was here and I am about 6300' elevation and up so if you are lower it might go farther. I switched to a PDR HX35 a couple years ago and it was just right for me. Now at 400hp I should rethink that though. Frankly it is on the edge as it is not enough if I put the Juice on 4 or 5 but I dont normally tow or even regularily drive around in level 4 or 5 so it is working for me.

About 30-35psi and about 300hp and you are at the max limit of the HY before temps start getting really hot.

I ran my hy turn buckled to 30psi with my comp and 90hp sticks and off the line to 60 mph it was great but would start to choke after that.I just put on my Dodgezilla [super40 w/14 exhaust housing] and at first I thought I had messed up [lot more lag and smoke] but when it spools the middle to top end is awsome. I may have to go with a 12cm housing to help spool. I guess I'll see when I get back to pullin my gooseneck .LOL
