36 is getting up there on the too much line.......but it's not high enough to blow it up!! I'd say if you were pushing somewhere in the 40's that'd be a bad thing.

How many miles are on your truck?

I agree with the other Nick, it is getting up there, but lots of guys run 35-36 psi just fine. I do.

What exactly happened to the turbo?

I have been running 35 psi for years on 2 different HX35's with no trouble......I even had my 94 pushing 46 psi for a little while!

35 psi is fine for the HX35 and should not be detrimental to the life of the turbo.

it started to lose power and my egts werent high and my boost wouldent pass 22 psi on level 5, so i figured it wasent the turbo. i checked the probe on my stealth plate and it it wasent gettin good voltage so i fixed that and it still wasent workin right, so i took it two a diesel shop and they said i had to bad map sensor codes, so it still being in warrenty i naturally took it to the dealership for free work! they called and said they were puttin a new turbo on it, thats all they could find wrong...so im thinkin bad bearing or somthin?

my truck has 85345 miles on it, and luckly i know the mechaninc at the dealership so i didnt have to go threw the trouble of takin my box off!

im thinkin bout just runnin 35 psi, if you guys think thats ok! i have an adjustable boost elbow so that makes it easier to change my boost

Is there an echo in here???

35-36psi is about right on an HX35...you still get "cool" air and lots of flow. Sounds like a good plan!

I agree with Chris, especially since he knows more than me.

You might have just had a bad turbo, maybe an oil problem? I am thinking it sounds like a bearing as well. Just trying to figure out why the bearing went on ya. But it did regardless of why, glad ya got it fixed. Warranty must be nice, I've never had one, other than myself But it is fun that way!

I don't know more than anyone....I just might sound like I do

I've pushed HX35's to 51psi...not that I'm proud of it, but they sure sound cool at that level It took about 1.5 years of punishment for it finally to come loose, but it went in a big way when it did

Keep it under 40psi, and you'll be fine...but for efficiency's sake, keep it around 35-36!

I didn't realize it took you that long. Is this the 51 psi HX that made you swear off Holset? I didn't realize you had been running it that high if it is the same one...

Nope, that's the HX35/40 that lasted 20 minutes and 2 miles! Only saw 40.6psi, but man was it spooling fast

Never take off you're twins that you made 402hp at 58psi and never even STARTED to clear up the smoke, and put on a Hybrid charger. That's what happens

Actually, that charger had to be a lemon the way it broke, but I sure didn't help it!

And what made you think that would be a great idea?

Well, it was supposed to have an external W/g plumbed in, but I didn't have the right bolts to put my ATS manifold on, so it went on as is I needed something to get me by for a few days 'till I could get parts to put a real charger on there!

Barely made it out of the shop

If you look at the MAP on the HX35 it is really only efficient to 26-28psi of boost. Once you start pushing it past that it will still make the pressure, but it is heating the air. The hotter the air is, the less dense it is, the less air you are getting in the engine. At 35-40psi that charger is way outside of its "happy zone"
