HX 40 expectations

OK, so what boost numbers are normal with a stock HX 40 as a single turbo? And what kind of wastegate tweaks can be done? I'm seeing 38-40psi with mine, but wonder where the norm is? And also wondering if the wastegate's workin as it should. I'm trying to get the EGT's under control and thinking about trying to port out the wastegate hole to flow better. Just wondering if anyone's messed with that other than buying an aftermarket 40.

I agree I would run a maximum of 40psi with an HX40.

I'm wastegated at 39psi. If you want lower EGT's do like trashdawg suggested and port an ATS 3 Piece outlet and your turbine inlet to match. You will see results.

Buddy the easiest thing to look for is the wastegate actuator, but if you do have an HX-40 turbo i'm sure it is wastegated because i have not seen, or heard of a HX-40 size exhaust housing that wasn't wastegated. 14CM, 16CM 18CM... are the common sizes and they are all wastegated.

Click on picture here...Wastegate is all behind where manifold attaches.

This one is blocked off, with no actuator....several others on this site also.

My exhaust side of the hx-40 has an outside measurement of 4" for piping. Is this right? I ordered the 4" flange and V band and neither fit it. What size fits these? Still couldn't get a clear picture of what the gate looks like.

You will need an HX-40 downpipe with a V-Band. Got mine from Piers in 2 days. Also a better picture on his web site...under HX-40...Try this...

Is the shiny gold piece the waste gate? That has the lil tube going in around the plate? If so Mine doesn't have it. Guess I"ll have to talk to the guy that I bought it from. He stated that is was gated. Where can I get the stuff to make one?

I took it to a local shop and I talked to a couple guys there and we couldn't find a waste gate on it. I e-mailed the seller about it, now I'm just waitin on a response.

Ok, I wuz diggin in the parts I picked up and there wuz a pipe that had a flange that matched right up to the turbo. The guy at carquest couldn't find out if it wuz 3.5" or 3 5/8 so he orderd both and they will be here @ 8 AM. I just got my rebuild kit for the tranny so soon I'll be back to smokin. Gettin tired of driving the gasser.
