HT Turbos for Compounds??

I have a HTB2 that I am running now and I want to use it as a Top Turbo and then an BHT3B/26 for the bottom turbo. Do you guys think that will work good?

It would work fine, but I think an S400 would make a better bottom charger .

Why is everyone always so quick to recommend the S400 over the BHT3B? What makes it so much better?

Newer technology. Higher pressure ratio capability-- more flow, more efficiency.

It's a little more compact, and a bit easier to make the plumbing. There are also many variations that will work. Both Borg Warner and Garrett primaries will fit the same piping setup. That is a plus for those of us that have a hard time making up our minds.

was an understatement Ron

I like the S400 style chargers..easier plumbing, and a better charger! It's win-win!

plus if you run out of air, you can upgrade the S400 to an S480.

You can also go down to a K31 if you have room to move your downpipe rearward. I've even been trying an S400 turbo that has a 75mm comp wheel and spools very close to my k31. lots of cool things to try.

Sounds like the S400 is the way to go. Its only $25 more so I think I will go that way. Does the bottom charger just hang from the Exhaust of the top charger? or does it need some kind of bracket off of the engine? What about oil feed to the bottom Charger?

Source Automotive has a bracket to support the S400. The bracket also incorporates a drain for the large turbo. Do not just let it hang. There is a plug on top of the oil filter housing for another oil supply.

There is also an oil port on the back side of the block you could use for an oil drain as well.

Bullseye power shows three housing sizes on their site.

I don't either, but I'd think they can get any B-W housing for that turbo.

A call would let you know for sure.
