HP/Torque guess

I have pretty much a stock set-up right now. 97 auto 12v with BHAF. Real soon i'll have a 4" exhaust, gsk 3k kit, #10 plate installed. I was just wondering if some of the experienced mod guys can make a guess as to how much hp and torque that sould make. I'm not going any further with mods till a new trans goes in place to handle the power.

in the stock position the 10 plate will give u something like 550 torque...slide it forward u can get as much as 700.....i dunno what the HP is just use the formula i barely ever get my rpms that high ....and with the 3k gsks ur peak torque will prolly be around 1800rpm as opposed to 1500rpm the BHAF and exhaust will help ur EGT's and sound better

happy bombing

I thought the 10 plate

would give you approx 330/750.... at the rear wheels... 550 seems low...

My bad thats on a manual, on a std, thats what it give ya

My guess is 250-270hp and 650-675tq. My truck made whats in my sig with just a fuel plate, and my pump is just a hair smaller than yours, but im thinking i should make something like the #'s above now.

Those numbers are at the wheels. you should have 250/650 maybe more or less depending on how good your tuning is.

Hp/torque #'s can vary widely depending on what hp version of the P-pumps is being used......A 97 Auto has the 180 pump and will have one of the lower hp increases of all the pumps when a #10 is installed.....these #'s do, however, assume the plate is in the stock position.......with the plate slid forward a bit and some timing advance to help with the later fueling, you may get up to 250/650 - but not without some tuning.

first run without any other playing my old setup was a 96 180 hp pump with manual tranny (conversion) dynod right at 280 something and 715 ??? it was right in there the 715 sticks in my mind and the 280 hp but when i t came on i wcouldnt tell you now. it had a hybrid HX35 60mm/16 cm exhaust housing no gov springs 16* timing and #10 plate 3/4 forward, 4" exhaust. valves WWWAY out of adjustment and OF valve on the fritz stock injectors had 250k on them at that point. later on parts were changed

if that helps any.

Thanks everyone. On the 180 pump, would there be any need or benifit to changing to, say a 215 pump from a manual truck?

I researched that at the time when i had mine and the general concensus was no. My 180 pump supported 370 hp injectors and witht he addition of Gov springs to a #10 plate was able to rocket right along with a 215 pump. 191 Delivery valves over the 181's would have made an even bigger difference but Jim Fulmer pointed out that my pump had the potential of supporting an easy 500-550hp if i just was to increase my airflow i think the 160 pumps are good to 450 or 500 hp, and then sending it in to have pump mods done would be necessary. but thats alot of room to play from where you are at right now.

Cost wise teh benefit isnt there

I had your same setup and I dynoed like 250/550 but that was on a screwy dyno. My guess would be somewhere around 275hp.

Btw how are your tires wearing? Mine seem to be wearing fast.
