How too hook up an autometer tach or a shift lite

Looks like autometer makes one, might want to shoot them an email on their website to see what signal pickup they use.

on my first gen i used the autometer diesel tach(forget teh part number) and is used a magnetic pick up that strapped around the alt. worked awsome.
as for a shift light. i have no clue....
