How much power can you get out of a 24v on the street
Re:How much power can you get out of a 24v on the street
John_P ... didn't Johnner make 497 on #2 @ Schied last year .... maybe I'm wrong ... but I would guess 500-550 to be the most streetable power ... no drugs of course ... there are those out there making more ... but are they TRUE dialy drivers?

Jamie,

Yeah you can run a larger injector than a 2, but you are going to get more smoke. More power though. 450HP is a done deal with your current combo.

BTW, I drive my truck everyday. It makes 560HP here in Dallas on any day, any dyno. No Correction Factor BS. Smoke can be controlled on a 12 valve better than most think. It takes some AFC tuning to get it done. Actually you have to modify the AFC to get it done, but the truck is totally driveable. I also tow an 8000 pound cargo trailer a couple times week. This is with an HX55 turbo usnig a rather large housing. Yes it has some lag, but not like many think and once it spools....look out. My wife drives my truck as well.

Don~

Jamie -

Don't know if you remember my old sig, but I was running the same as you..EDM stage 2's, KS k45 turbo, TST PM3, etc..It was too fast, smoked too much, and wasn't practical for these enviromentally oriented folks here in San Francisco..So, I unwound it all, except for the TST box..(much to Rod's chagrin..and Rick's hard work..but I appreciated it) I was definetly around 475hp with that setup..the k45 is comparable to your hx-40, maybe a little stouter..But I really don't know anything about turbos, so...

Anyway, I went back to RV275's and my stock turbo..Lost alot of power, but its definetly more user friendly..For now..now its just a fast truck..not a high performance auto killer that it was..were it not for the smoke, I might have left it alone..It was a riot at the Pismo Dunes..7800 lb sand rail..I would imagine up where you live, some of those same enviro folks have given you that "look"..here in the republic of San Francisco, [undecided] they can call 1-800-EXHAUST and cause you no small amount of problems..I've had 2 calls..Deflected both, but didn't need the hassle..

Keith:

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Yes, Johnner ran 497 H.P./1189 Torque on Scheids
Mustang Dyno last year at their rally.

-------
John_P

I know you said without twins but....

A set of twins, stage 3s, 5" exhaust, and a drag comp is a 500hp combo that will yield little or no smoke and be a blast to drive.

You can make it on a single but it ain't the same
more smoke, EGTs, and lag!!!

the EDMs are gonna help a bit too.
Re:How much power can you get out of a 24v on the street
Problem is I can't leave work to drive down to somewhere to have it done. There is no one around here building twins or I would have em!

Trouble is deciding which system you want to go with ???

You already have one turbo of a "known" compound setup, talk to Piers or Idaho CTD.

Would be a good idea, yes. By bolt on you'll still have to do a thing or two (oil line, downpipe?) but the piping etc. would be all done for you.

Re:How much power can you get out of a 24v on the street
Most of the twin systems for sale are pretty much bolt on. I'd start by contacting any one of these places:

Performance Diesel, PDR, Scheid Diesel, Enterprise Engine, ATS, Texas Diesel Works, or J.R. Adkins.

They all sell systems, and there are probably others who do as well.

John

NOW THE BAR or goal is gonna be 600 :
