How Much Power?

Hello,

I am in the market for a new clutch, and I am trying to guess at how much power I am making.

1999 CTD, 4x4, 5-speed manual trans.

Performance MODS: RV275 injectors; AFE workhorse intake; Magnaflow 4" exhaust; HyperTech max energy tuner #52008

Any guesses?

I think the injectors are marketed as "50 HP". I am having trouble finding advertised numbers for the tuner I am using, as that part number seems to have been replaced

What is the stock HP/TRQ level for this truck?

Thanks,
Matt

I dont know how much hp the HyperTech tuner makes but the RV275's are about 40 hp. I think this would be a good question for the clutch company you're wanting to purchase. And what clutch you choose will be dependent on the hp you plan on making and if you're towing anything heavy.

well the clutch that i recommended in your other Thread/post will be fine. The same clutch you posted when you said you talked to South bend clutch on that Thread you posted.

you stock truck puts out 235HP and 460TQ.

you hypertech thing depending on what stage it is. which if you dont know you really need to call hypertech if its that important to you. but I think there isn't much diff between the 3 stages.
stage 1 30hp-89tq, stage 2 41hp-114tq, stage 3 44hp-137tq.

and the injectors if they are really RV's they will range from 30Hp-maybe 50.
depending the quality of injector etc.

your truck is not producing all 235HP when you drive. I doubt you drive much around 2400-3000rpm.

I would say your truck is putting out 300-330 Hp at peak. and in the 600 range on tq.

Thanks for all the replies!

Dieselwrks, you are correct, I did have a recommendation from South Bend already. But when I talked to themI asked about the next one up the list, 13125-OFEK. They stated that I would also be "OK" with this clutch, but it might be a little grabby and give me some headaches when backing up a trailer.

I also am thinking ahead, what if I increase the power of the truck more?

That's why i started this thread. I knew i could count on this forum to help me make my decision!

Looks like what SB recommended, (13125-OK-HD) is the way i am going to go. It it rated for probably 100 HP more than I am making so I a little room to grow if I add another mod to the truck (never know what you will find on craigslist! LOL)

I will call Larry later on today and place the order. Now I just need to find a weekend off work to install it...

thanks again everybody!

Matt

IMO honestly if you are to go higher in the 400-450 hp range ever just get the Double disk and be done with it. DD3250
