40LBS is about the top that I ever see. I do know that some head gaskets have blown at 40LBS.At that PSI you are out of the efective map of the turbo.

34-36PSI is the top of the efficiancy range of the '35.
A '40 wil be a bit higher, but with more flow out the exhaust the power will be increased a fair amount from the restrictive '35.

45-50PSI is critical overspeed for the HX-35.

At 34 or 36PSI the air coming out of the turbo is 400*F, not a good temperature to make power.

i dont have a hx,but i have a hy and everybody tells me its no good after 26lbs of boost(hot boost after 26),but my truck would run 1250 in under an eighth.i plugged the wastegate, now it runs 32 lbs. of boost and all the egt`s i will see is 1050.it would only make 21 lbs. boost with the wastegate.if i were you,i would test it myself, and do accordingly.if you are at around 38-40 lbs with a hx you are doing about all you can hope for with that turbo.

Depending on your airbox, the HX35 is out of legs anywhere between 35 PSI and 39 PSI. With a K&N in the stocker box, 35 is probably where you are done. Open filter elements will gain you a couple PSI, and one of the forced air inductions will gain you a couple more PSI.

Do you have any forced air inductions in mind Rod?

Nope, don't know of one off-hand

Seriously though, from the EGT results we've seen, any of the forced induction units such as the Scotty II, Volant, and Air Bulldog hoods seems to give you a little more leg room on your turbo.

Naturally, since we build them, we're a little partial to the Scotty

Very diplomatically put, Rod. And very fair. Of course I am partial to the Scotty 2 and I don't build nor sell them. Just a satisfied user here
