How long does the VP44 Last with the comp?

Just wondering if it drasticly reduces life. Does the comp add some smoke? Do you need a fass? for it? Thanks T

I hope it doesn't reduce the VP44 life, if so don't tell my truck. I have had it on there for over a year now running mostly on level 3 sub 5 and they seem to play well with each other. On a hot day 3 sub 5 can put on a nice smoke show if called upon. Matter of fact with the temps in the 90's and AC on, the only way to get it not to smoke is to knock it down to sub 3 or so. Even setting 1 sub 5 will smoke. With the turn down on the rear it is a lot easier to keep clean. BTW, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I always add 8 oz of Stanadyne Performance Formula when I fill up the tank.

About 130K so far with the Comp on... stock VP, 2nd lift pump... get a fuel pressure gauge.. that will tell you if you need to up grade... Most like you will need some fitting or line up grades.. best to move the pump.. or add a pusher...
Good Luck

Fuel boxes have no affect on the VP44!!! They are designed with the VP44 in mind and do not ask the VP to do more than it is capable of in good operating condition. It is only a rumor that boxes that tap the wire are killers. If a VP dies after a box is added it was on its way out and the box only expolited that fact, but got the blame. A FP gauge is the way to make sure your VP lasts.

I have the Blue Chip box that pierces the wire, It runs full-blast all the time (5x5 equivelant on the Comp)...IMO, if you have strong fuel pressure all the time and can monitor it in the cab of the truck, CRANK IT UP! I am also a firm believer in adding some Power Service in every tank for the extra lubricity. Lack of fuel kills VP's, not necesarilly the fueling box. Bomb Freely
