How can injectors increase fuel economy?
Simple question: I read here that more fuel = more performance. Makes sense. I also read that high-performance injectors = more fuel, so therefor more performance. Still makes sense. I also read that high-performance injectors = more fuel economy. Huh? I assume it's only if I keep my foot out of it, but still, if I'm just motoring along, how do better injectors = more economy, and how much economy are we talking about?
Thanks,

That's fine until you get caught and are fined insane amounts. The injectors produce a better spary pattern and make the burn more efficient. A more efficient burns means that more power is being made. Since more power is being made, then less throttle is needed to accelerate the truck. That makes sense to me.

Better yet, just rob a gas station and take all the free fuel you want as long as you are willing to break laws to save a couple of bucks.

BTW, I think the proper term is "thats wut i DUZ"

Until you get up into the insane injectors, then there is no way you'll see a mileage increase.
Maybe on 1's, 1.5's and maybe even 2's.

I would go with a mach 1.5.........alot of guys run them and get huge power gains with this very modest injector........many report a mpg gain with them.............not an expert here, but I think when you step up to mach 2-3 injectors spray pattern efficiency starts to go out the window in favour of fuel volume..........the bigger injectors are usually quite efficient in the range they were designed to run in but deliver poor spray patterns at lower rpms so mpg starts to suffer.......there was a thread a week or so ago where Don M was reporting up to a 90 hp gain with the new 1.5's........
XP8103, In most cases with a stock transmission you could get away with a RV275 injector. With trans mods you could go with a Mach 1 or 1.5 injector.
RV275=40 HP
Mach 1=65 HP
Mach 1.5=85 HP
Those HP numbers are going off memory.
Using Edge EZ box have been reported to gain some mileage too.

The original question revolved around mpg. If your buying for that reason, think again. If you want the "grunt"...fine.
To me the miracle of diesels is that they don't loose mileage with added HP. Many members report increases in mileage but it's not wide spread enough to guaranttee you, IMO.
I suspect those that get increases had some pre-existing condition that made new injectors produce better economy. Can't prove it...just my guess. I never saw any increase in my low mileage 02 with any upgrades I did. Many others say the same thing. So, you may or may not see better fuel economy....but I highly recommend the added Grunt!
