Don't waste your money on the HRVP. I have no experience with the Dragonfire though.

Surging, erratic idle. On the highway it was fine, but low throttle situations it drove like crap. After about a year and a half it was getting hard to start. It had decent power for the mods I had, but if you are looking for more serious power with a VP, and SO pump will do just as much as a HRVP at roughly half the price.

I'm confused, I keep hearing people saying to put a S.O. pump in...If the H.O. pump is rated for higher H.P., why is the S.O. the way to go, or are they not even interchangeable and i'm just reading wrong? I'm in the market for a new VP, so some guidance would be great (not trying to steal your thread, just saw a comment on a S.O.)

HO pumps operate at a higher pressure than the SO pumps. HO injectors are actually smaller than the SO injectors, but with the higher pressure can deliver more fuel. This is why the HO engines respond better to injectors than the SO engines. The HO pump, although running at higher pressures, has a lower capability to deliver fuel. The HRVP is said to run at the higher HO pressures, but have the fuel delivery capability of the SO pump. With the down falls of the HRVP, plus the higher price, it makes putting an SO pump that more attractive.

SO pumps can be installed in place of the HO pumps on the 245hp engines. They say you might lose a bit of bottom end. But if you making the HP to the point the HO pump won't keep up, I don't think it would be noticed terribly.
