Homemade boost fooler!!!
Has anyone put a pressure regulator between the map sensor and head?? I heard about this somewhere and can't remember who or where got heard this.
It sounds logical, preset a pneumatic pressure regulator to 20lbs, take the map sensor and install regulator then map sensor. Simple, I think.
What would the results be on a stocker? You have to have more fuel to create more boost above 20lbs, right.
Think about it

maybe stock fueling would allow 25 lbs (give or take some lbs) of boost provided you could "fool" it into thinking it was only making 20. so maybe more fuel isnt necessary...rather allowing whats already there.
FWIW, i wrote at one point on intuition saying a boost fooler wouldnt do anything for a stock truck (or atleast nothing to feel) and someone's response to my comment was they felt a noticeable improvement with just a boost fooler on a otherwise stock truck. it was my fault as it was intuition and i never tried it...
so, maybe there is enough fuel to make more power and the boost to keep it cool. keep us posted...

I agree, it wouldn't help much with a stocker, but 2-5 lbs more of boost and only spend around $30.00 would be worth it. It would really help with a fuel box like Superchips and others without the boost fooler. What about the boost fooler and turnbuckle together??
What is the map sensor port size??? I think I'll try it.

boodt fooler
I could be wrong but this makes no sense to me. If you place a preasure regulator between the intake manifold and the map sensor isn't any preasure above 20lbs going to bleed off and not allow the preasure inside the manifold to go above the twenty pound limit. If I am wrong then set me straight.

i agree...the regulator would only slow the rise of pressure from what i see. You would have to flow the pressure through without no restrictions. If you restrict it.....the pressures will edventually match. I could be wrong......

guys a pressure regulator REGULATES pressure, so it will only build to the celing of the regulator setting, I used a pressure regulator on the wastegate of my toyota supra and Katie bar the door...she is runnin strong now! so I believe you can put the regulator inline but be sure to block the wastegate to get full use of your boost.

As above, if you have the regulator set at 15psi, thats all that will be seen down stream of the unit, no matter what pressure you have upstream. it just regulates, not a bleed off.

The item listed at http://dieselmanor.com/dm_products/boost_prv.asp is not a regulator. It is a pressure relief valve. That product WOULD bleed pressure. A regulator won't.

We'll I did it!!! For now no difference. I used a small pnumatic pressure regulator. First, I set the pressure on the bench and locked it down. Second, I couldn't find fittings with the correct threads--- 9/16 18 thread. I hunted and search the pipe bin at work and found the parts.
Next, I'm going to turnbuckle the wastegate. Then, buy a fuel box (VA-5).
I hate you guys, ya'll gave me a bombing diease.

I bet with the Mach injectors you could dump fuel like pouring it out of a bucket.
I didn't realize the Van A had a boost fooler until I started playing with the fooler.
