Talking Holy Mother Of....

We finally tapped the wire on my buddies truck that we installed the southbend Con OFE in. We turned it on 5x5 at first and it slipped a little so we backed it off and eventually worked our way up to 5x5 and all I can say is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The power is just INSANE!!! The smoke freaking rocks!!!!! His mods are mach 1.5's, comp w/wire, BHAF, and straight pipe. This truck just hauls!!! Anybody on the fence about this clutch needs to get off and go buy one. It holds great and engages great. The roughness getting into gears we had earlier has all but vanished. I can't wait to see the smoke in the daylight!!!! I just thought I'd update yall on how it was going. Thanks for all the help yall. We couldn't have done it without ya.

Hunter. dodgediesel4x4 is his screen name on here. Hopefully we'll be able to make the next meet and show it off. That's if we can get more than an 8 hour break between shifts at work.

I thought that might be him. Did he get an exhaust, or is he dumping a lot more soot under the truck?

Hey BB,

Does he still run the HX35? How are WOT egt's on 5x5 with those 1.5's? I want to run some 1.6's but wonder about egt's (I won't be swapping turbos anytime soon).....when I tow I can turn the Comp off or down but I'm just curious about 5x5....

crobtex, the exhaust is getting ordered next week. He definately needs it now BAD!!!!

CTD NUT, I have no clue what his EGTs are. We were so busy last night watching the speedo and the smoke we didn't even think about the gauges. I'll check on them today and get back to you on them. He is still running the stock HX35.

HOLY SMOKE, literally!!!! This truck screams down the road and pours out sooooo much smoke, I actually feel sorry for who ever is behind me...wait, no I'm don't . I still have the stock turbo, and yes, my exhaust is dumped under the cab (poor underside, all black). I've had someone tell me when I smoke my truck, it looks like the rear of my truck is on fire. Well now, it looks like the rear of the truck is fulily engulfed and there is no way to put it out!!

As for egts, I can hit 1250-1275, but thats empty. I'm gonna be pulling a small load today for work (2k lbs) so I'll let yall know how hot it gets. I have a feeling I won't be able to run on 5x5, so I'll give her a test run or two and then turn the comp down.

Wish I had a stick.
So many things I want to do, all of which are sure to cost me thousands in tranny upgrades/repairs.

Cool.....I'm very interested in your feedback on egt's.....let me get this straight, though : empty, you can only hit 1275* on 5x5?!?!?......I'm assuming that is a pre turbo, right? With 1.5's and the Comp on 5x5, that sounds almost too good to be true with a 12cm HX35.....
Keep us posted for sure!

Yea but if you ever do any racing you will be glad you have an auto rather than that stick.

Talking

i just got a comp and tapped the wire,i have 130xxx injectors and on 5]5 ive only seen about 1100 up a long hill, not wot of course but on the hiway reg cruising usually sits at 600-800.is 1275 considered low?ive never seen that high.she smokes but not crazy, with comp off barely any smoke.but b-d told me these injectors smoke less than others.

It looks like the exhaust is gonna have to wait until after the scotty 2. At WOT from a 20-95 run it hits about 1400-1450* pre turbo. That's no bueno. I wish we knew what his boost numbers were like. The gauge pegs at 30 VERY rapidly. Hey merrick, ya got those cores in yet? The fuel pressure is solid at 15 at WOT and 20 or so at idle. It looks like that modified holley black is doing it's job.

Ok, 1450* sounds a little more realistic......that is what I was afraid of.
