I used an HX-40/16 on both my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve and also on my 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve truck. The turbo worked very well on both trucks and on both of mine gave almost thirty (30) more RWHP than my HX-35/12.

One thing I would suggest is to keep the boost on the turbo wastegated to 35-40 lbs. and no more than that. The HX-40's cannot take a steady diet of 40+ boost pressures but will live for a long time if the wastegate is set between 35-38lbs.

Good luck!

What are the sizes of the HX35 & HX40 standard compressor wheels?

54mm on the H1C 56mm on the WH1C and HX35 and 60mm on the HX40. He is right on about the boost levels 40psi tops. The H1C, WH1C, HX35, and HX40 all use the same shaft and exhaust turbine just different center sections and the 40 uses a different exhaust housing. The compressor housings are all the same just mount to the center in a different way. All you will have to do is get a exhaust housing that will fit the smaller manifold flange on the 5.9 and change out the down pipe to fit the 40. You will like it, they flow more air.
