Holley Install Questions

Well, I ordered a Holley black today. I paid $140 and got free 1-2 day shipping. Is this a good deal?
Here is what I plan on doing:
Remove the stock lift pump.
Cut the fuel lines that went into, and out of, the stock lift pump and connect the ends with hose.
Cut the wires going into the connector for the stock lift pump.
Mount the Holley somewhere close to the tank.
Cut out another section of line back by the fuel tank and connect the Holley using rubber hose and the ends of the stock fuel line that went into, and out of, the stock lift pump.
Run the wires from the stock lift pump to the Holley.

Did I forget anything or do I need to change something? I am going to be installing it this weekend, so I have some time yet to modify my plans if I have to. Thanks for the help and suggestions. Joe

If I were you I would run both pumps....just hook a relay up to the stock LP wiring and wire that relay to you holley black and your stock LP....you should have plenty of pressure then. Just make sure your relay has an amp rating high enough for both pumps.

but if you dont want to do that...the procedure that you have should work very well.

My stock lift pump is almost dead. It pulls down to 5psi with the comp off If I did run 2 pumps, wouldn't I need to put in a regulator?

It comes with a regulator. I ran both pumps. it idled at 29psi without a regulator, so I toned it down to 20 at an idle.

I am running the stock engine mounted LP and the in-tank retrofit pump right now...and my FP guage is pegged at 16 psi...even at WOT. so I dont know what my actual FP is. I just know that it is more than 16 psi all of the time...I dont have any fuel leaks or starting issues....and when you change the fuel filter and bump the starter...with the fuel filter cap off...that bowl fills up and overflows faster than you can get out look at it and get in to shut off the key.

I dont know about the regulator though...I dont have any problems...and I have no regulator, maybe someone else will chime in will more advise.

I would replace the fuel lines completly. It is cheap for rubber line. 3/8" will slip on the tank if you remove the plastic clip. Just put a clamp on it. You can either buy one of the kits or buy the fittings from someone local if you want to put it together yourself.

Hello all, I'm new here. I appreciate the great posts, and I've gotten some good learnin' snoopen' around here for awhile.....

Anyhow, I talked with a tech advisor at Cummins who said that the vp44 is designed to take 18 psi max. fuel pressure. Don't know if that means it can take a bit more, but, I am trying for no higher than that with my planned fuel system.

BTW, How do I show my sig, which I thought I filled out?
Thanks, Mike
