black is higher, most on here run the blues'. I run mine as a helper and have 20+ psi. I think big blue runs his stand alone and has around 14. (he will be here shortly)

The one huge advantage a Carter has over the Holley blue/black is the motor is cooled and lubed by the fuel. Motors on Carter last longer because of this design. Makes for the Carter being a better choice for a fuel pump than a Holley, in my opinion.

I run teh Holly blue and have no complaints. If I were doing it over I would by a pro-comp black. They are cheaper than a Holley and the black has more windings in teh motor so you can work it harder. Stretching the internal sping will get the psi were you want it on a black.

I'd pass on a Black carter HP... Mine lasted a week... Dad's lasted about 2-3 running hrs...
I've got a Holley 12-150, but it will be a while before I get it installed... I'd also look at the Warbo pumps...

you put the blue on the frame by the tank and run it and the stocker together. If one fails you see a drop in presure, but your still running, and have time to get it fixed. If you just run one, when it stops so do you. even the great FA$$ pump has left some setting.

My truck does not have a Fuel pressure guage, light or cow bell to let me know when things are going bad.

I have an '84 ford with the 6.9 and I installed an elec. pump on it back by the fuel tanks, however I removed the mech pump because if the diaphram gives up it will pump fuel into the engine diluting the oil.

On the Cummins is the pump totally external, meaning electrical and not mechanical? So, if you add another pump you're just adding "flow insurance"?

I saw a listing on Ebay that stated the 3/8ths (with approx .300 I.D.) Stainless Steel fuel line coming from the fuel tank becomes .170" at the first banjo bolt eyelet on the lift pump. The banjo bolt on the other side of the lift pump is also .170" and the banjo bolt on the fuel filter inlet. The outlet banjo on the fuel filter is .270" which is the same as the injecton pump inlet.

He offers 5 banjo bolt that are machined out to .300 for better fuel flow and therefor more cooling capacity for the IP.

Does this make sense to you guys? I'm thinking of installing a fuel pressure guage and a warning light connected to a 4# pressure switch along with a pump near the tank.

I added a Holley blue pump on the frame rail, along with the Vulcan big line kit. I spoke with Eric @ Vulcan, and got the twin harness kit at the same time. This allows both pumps to be run off a relay, and they power at the same time. 1/2" lines from the Holley blue to the IP, and I am running well over 16 psi all the time, even at WOT. Cannot bring the guage below 16psi, no more starving for fuel. Cut the stock 3/8" line, and run that to the inlet of the blue pump, on the frame rail. Any questions shoot me a pm, I will be glad to help any I can.
