Holley Blue Spring

How far are you suppose to stretch the springs? Alos is the spring where you can screw it out on thr IN side or is it somewhere else. Just wondering becuase ever since we got this pump which is 8 months and still going (better not talk too loud) It has been 10 Psi idle and cruise, possibly 7-8 Psi WOT. dont know if it is because of the 8AN Lines or what so we were gonna see if we can get more out of this thing.

Thanks
Cody

My blue with the stock spring sits at 14 at idle and 12 at WOT with -8 line from the tank to the VP44. Take the bypass plunger out (it's behind the big flat head screw on the bottom of the pump) and smooth it out with some emery paper. Run some emery paper through the bore as well. Add a little grease and then reinstall and go for a drive. I had to do that on my old holley black. Pressure was at 8 at idle and 7 at WOT. Fixed the plunger and it was at 15 at idle and 13 at WOT with a comp and wire pierced. Be sure to put the plunger back in the right way or you'll get a really weird reading. I put it in backwards by accident on my holley blue and the pressure shot up to 30 psi. Turned it around and I get the above pressures.

Know Previously to this pump we had a PE 4200 which had 2 relays, we still got the relays may this be the culprit? Also we have a spair pump and i looked at the plunger, what exactly do you do to it? I really didnt see anything that could be done to it. i am really proud of this pump so far like i said it lasted 8 months. And know in the morning it doesent sound like it wants to pump, but it still works. Thanks

I've got the same two relays that I had on my PE pump running my Holley blue and they are running fine. All you do to the plunger is rub it down with some emery paper to smooth it out. Then rub the inside of the bore with emery paper to smooth it out some. The put a little grease on the plunger and put it all back together.

22-24 psi? That seems a little high to me considering it's rated at 14 psi free flow.
