HO Modification

I have a 2001 HO engine. I've read that HO engines don't like timing boxes. Has anyone had a bad experience with the Edge EZ.

i was not at all disappointed with my EZ on my 02 HO. Been on there since may and havent had any trouble. I think what most people mean by saying HO's dont like timing boxes is the fact that they dont quite give an HO the kick that they give a SO.

I have an EZ on an HO and it's fine. Then again, I almost never tow.

In general, I consider the timing of the EZ to be a little too much for the HO. This noticeable if you hook into a heavy load.

I'd urge an HO owner to look into the Diesel Dynamics versions of the EZ and Comp: the True Torque Power Module and Ultimate Fueling Module, respectively.

Diesel Dynamics has dialed in these boxes and they are more refined than the Edge units out of the box.

We tow HEAVY with an HO (see signature). The EZ is pretty darned aggressive on timing advance for pulling at these GCW's. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone for the Diesel Dynamics True Torque Power Module (TTPM) in lieu of the Edge EZ - as Justin said, same box, but better programming for the HO, especially with bigger injectors.

What are peoples opinion on the TST PM3 Comp? I have not installed mine yet, and I'm actually kind of nervous to, plus I don't have my pusher installed either.

You can pull the EZ's cover and remove the jumper. That will make it fuel and time the same as a TTPM. It takes the edge off the EZ box (less smoke under boost), but the power's still available higher up.

With all respect, do you have a source for this nugget of wisdom? I've talked to Edge and DD and not been advised of this.

Would also like definitive info on this topic.

Have been hearing about removing the other end (not the High, Med, Low end) and doing something in there. Is this it...or are you refering to the regular end (away from the wire harness)?

No, the timing is ALWAYS there in the EZ.

The jumpers just let you set WHEN the additional fueling will turn on by detecting boost levels.

Also, the jumpers adjust how much the overall fueling rate will increase. Position 1 and 2 are less than full fueling rate found on position 3

For clarity:

The EZ jumpers affect only two things: 1) how much fuel will be allowed just by flooring the pedal, and 2) how much boost is required before 100% is allowed.

EZ settings:
#1-- 33% of full fuel just with the pedal (0 boost), 20psi for 100%
#2- 50% " " " " " , and 10psi
#3- 66% and 3psi

"Full fuel" is defined is the maximum fueling available from the ECM (all maps accounted for)

As you can see, the more aggressive settings give the pedal more say in fueling, and wait much less for boost.
