I took my truck out for a little fun in the mud and had a great time i had many people telling me i was crazy but everything went fine you just gotta know how to work the pedal after maybe 45 mins i had real high engine temp and i know its because airs not running over the radiator is there anything i can do to keep this down maybe electric fans?

 

you have to watch with e fans seeing as they might not move enough air to keep the truck cool. when your in the mud things are going to get hot, with a gas trucks efans would be the way to go but a diesel im not to sure. was there mud and stuff caked in your rad? that would be a good reason i got hot then it wouldnt have mattered what kinda fans ya have...

well i know most set ups have a dual fans with im sure better flow and the fan shroud would be better with them cause the fans right up against the radiator. Also e fans would take the fan load off the motor
I just looked at this one says it had better cooling 27 hp and better mpg.... maybe a upgrade down the road... had to much funn today roosting the hell outta my buddys jeep and im sure she can pull almost anything out there was a stock exploder out there stcuk bad in id say 7-10in of mud the first attempt broke the strap and send it threw the back window got my girl hooked up spooled the turbo and slowly layed into her pulled it right out

mine does the same thing when i go wheeling. it's just the nature of the beast. one way to get it to cool down some is to crank up the heat and blast the fan, but that might require rolling down the windows a bit at times, and with mud slingin' you might get the inside a bit muddy (1st hand experience!). how high of temps are we talking?

 

nothing to do damage but im getting higher then id like to be almost to the end of the bold zone on the temp gauge... but leaving going down the dirty roads doing 10 mph itd go back to the middle i guess i just gotta take it easy and take breaks....pullin the exploder killed me she got really up there then

 

Well, IMO

The E-fans WONT move enough air, no matter how big you go. I've seen it tried 10+ Times and always failed.

Somthing else to think about is the possibility of oil and debri covering the front of the radiator. It's a common problem , Just put a draft tube on it and get it out from under the truck a ways!

These engines will withstand more overheating than (IMO) Any engine in the market but dont push your luck, If your overheating and there's no mechanical reason ....You shouldnt give it that much heck!
