When it drops below freezing idle will bump up on its own for people with the current ecm updates. Smarty can be used to update friends ecms too

Once enabled, idle speed will slowly ramp up from 800 rpm to 1200 rpm when all of the following conditions are met:

1. Intake Manifold Temperature less than 0°C (32°F) and,
2. Coolant Temp is less than 60°C (140°F) and,
3. The Transmission is in Neutral or Park and,
4. The Service Brake pedal is not depressed and,
5. Throttle = 0% and,
6. Vehicle Speed = 0 mph

Smarty

I want to get a smarty and I was wondering what kind of updates it can do to more than one truck. Can the power setting be used in a different truck? Thanx,

Scotty

I've updated the ECM's on two manual trucks, and they both high idle. I run mine on #7, and I have yet to see my truck idle up. Maybe it only does it on the stock software?

*All* the smarty softwares have the current updates so any sw or even when you go back to stock settings you're getting all the current updates. Smarty owners can basically give their friends free ecm updates

Tate I'm not sure where the sensor is exactly that picks up the intake manifold temp, but maybe yours is off or it just wasn't cold enough yet.

How long does it take before it starts to ramp up??? I sat in my truck and started it tonight. It was -5 and it did not ramp up. Is it because of the HRVP??? I'm stumped!!!! I know it is below 0 here in Red Deer tonight so I don't know what's up??? I'm running on smarty #9....

when I morning start below zero, its usually 60-90 seconds then it starts stepping up to 1200rpm.

Mine ramps up with the hrvp so it shouldn't be that. Do you plug the truck in? If so the coolant temp might be too high. Maybe your tps needs to be reset? The criteria is in post #2 and one of them isn't being met for some reason

Like Luke was saying, its definitely cold enough. But the IAT sensor could be an issue, although it was holding the grid heaters on longer the colder it got (was around -15C last week where I was). Other thought may be is I have my ABS and park brake light coming on after 40 mph, which according to the Haynes manual, is a brake switch problem. And if the truck thinks my brake is depressed, no high idle. Or maybe the ECT sensor. So many options . . . which one is the cheapest?
