High idle flash not working?
Truck in sig. Had the flash done at the dealership. Two days in a row it has been in the mid 20's when I start the truck. It is NOT ideling up. What can be causing this? Anybody else have to have something else done to get it to work?
High Idle parameters are not based on OAT (outside air temp) but air temp at the IAT.... engine inlet. You probably were not cold enough to meet the programed conditions.
Have you seen the list of required parameters before it kicks in?
We had 19* this am, but since my truck parks is an attached (unheated) garage, it never kicked in... even when I stopped at a store 2 miles down the road and left it idling for 5 min.

Another possibility! See #3 post on this thread...

I've tried to see if mine works with temps in the 20s several times with no joy. Tuesday I was out in the Berkshires and the temp was close to 0, truck had been sitting for 2 days, and not only did it idle up to about 1200, it went into 3 cyl. mode. So at least for some trucks it has to be pretty darn cold.
Mine only works when the temps are BELOW 15*.
It worked this morning as a matter of fact.
1200rpm idle, and 3 cylinder idle both working.
The 3 cyl idle kinda sounds like a baby Nitro Funny Car at idle.......

If you went to the dealer and had the software installed,,Maybe they forgot(not knowing what tech is doin) To ENABLE it,,, After the software gets installed Then the tech has to ENABLE it also,
Step1 Install software
Step 2 Enable software.
Also DONT touch the brake pedal or the throttle when starting in the morning, They shut the option off.
Well, after
at the dealership at least five times, I was fed up enough to go back. The service dip kept telling me "the software is on it, there is nothing else to do".
I TOLD him every time that the 3-cyl needs to be enabled. His response, "no, you just need to use the CRUISE BUTTONS"
Well the tech was not there when I got off work yesterday so I couldn't get anything resolved. It was 14 deg here this morning and sure enough, NO IDLE UP. I got to work at 6:57, called the dealer at 7:01 and was in the service bay by 7:08. He was not so willing to argue with me in person, go figure. I told him to have the tech put my truck back on the computer. He said they would take it around back and look at it
I said I would take it back there and see for myself what the computer says.
Well I'll be...
The tech points out to the service guy the note on the TSB stating that the 3-cyl must be enabled.
Tech hooked up the computer and and sure enough, it was NOT enabled. It goes without saying that it is enabled NOW.
Of course we are warming up now and I don't know when it well get cold enough again to see if it works...
I sure miss the old guy that used to write up the service orders. It always took the time to listen and make sure everything was done right.
