high elevation and tight torque converters

I am wanting to know what people are running for there tc out west for the high elevation. It seems like my 900/400 tc makes my turbo fall on its face. I have heard the 15 blade left cuts are better. I know one guy on here has switched to the 15 blade left cut goerend. Any help would be good.

Yeah, how high of elevation are we talking, the 15 blade left cut is a lil looser and better fitted for that thin air up there. What turbo are you running?

I'm at 6500ft to 12k with a Goerend triple disk. I want to say it's a 15 or 14 blade left cut torque multiplier as Dave explained it to me. Very laggy/smokey starts unless empty until boost is 10+lbs then it's a rocket pulling my 7k trailer. So I try to be nice (no smoke) but if I'm uphill with my TT at a traffic light I have no option but to either fog the intersection or toast the converter and limp it up to 2nd gear or 10lbs boost.

I love the trans but the converter I think is too tight.

Loosening up a converter is not a new thing. You can get stock flash in an improved case....

Goerend has lots of different stalls available and will change your stall for the cost of shipping. I am in KY, but I have the 800/300 and it is extremely tight. I will be going looser when i get my tranny built. Although, this tight converter is awesome with a load once you get rolling.

I talked to dave again and he siad I could try another converter. I think I will try a 15 blade. Should I go with the left cut or just the regular 15 blade.

I would go with the left cut.

My cousin had the 15 blade left cut on his 12 valve with a 62/71/14 charger and it spooled awesome. It wont be quite as efficient in the fluid coupling as what you have, but i think driveability will be much better.

Here is a video of his truck when it had the 62 and the 15 blade left cut:
