I'm looking at upgrading to HID lights. I found these through another thread.
They show the 9004 Xenon and the 9004 High/Low. Does the Xenon not have a high low capability?
Is there any difference in the lighting ability between the 2?
Also my lenses are pretty cloudy I was planning on buffing them out but I thought I might consider going to one of these lens sets.
So will the HID kits work with these newer lenses. Any recommendations one way or the other??

 

If you want high and low beams I believe your looking for bi-zenons

Cant give you much more info than that - other than the housings are a little pricey, I think.

 

I got some of their bixenon or high low kit form xenongate.......they dont go from high/low without turning off the headlights.....Good luck getting ahold of anyone...no telephone they don't return my emails......stay away if I was you. I will say that the hids are BRIGHT.

So when you have the high beams on you actually have to turn off your headlights, hit your hi/low switch and turn them on to get them to switch???

 

That site shows a listing for "9004 hi-low", and another listing for "9004 bi-xenon". The ones that offer both beams I have always seen referred to as "bi-xenon", so I have no idea what the difference would be.

Also, those projector style lamps on the other site may take a different bulb than the 9004 and would require a different HID kit. I think if I was going to convert to HID bulbs, I would try it with the projector lamps. Just my opinion.

 

That was kind of where I was going with buying both kits.
Looking to get a much brighter light. Of course just buffing out the yellow in my current lights would go a long way!!

 

What I did with mine was install a set of Super White bulbs from PIAA and a Bright Box from Geno's. The Super White bulbs are stock wattage so they won't melt the housings but the light output is much whiter. The Brite Box keeps your low beam lights on with your high beams. this might not sound like much but it really helps. Both beams together fill in the blank spots and really light up the road. I've been running this set up for about 5 years and love it.

The Brite Box for my 2001 was about $95.00 and the light bulbs were about $65.00 a pair.

That comes out to more than the HID kit.

 

When I first got my truck I found a link to a mod to run both bulbs at high beam. All it took was a splice connector on two wires under the steering column, about $.25 I have had this for about four years now w/no problems. I wish I could give you the link but through the change of computers I have lost it. Given some time you could find it with an web search.

I have a set of Bi-Xenons on my truck. The way they go from low beam to high beam is by using a little actuator to move the bulb ever so slightly to change it to focus its beam a little higher. They are pretty bright even on low beam so it doesn't make a big difference when you switch to high. IMHO its there mostly to show whoever is doing the state inspection that something happens when they switch your lights from low to high during inspection. Mine doesn't need to be turned off to switch from low to high, it works just like it did from the factory. If you want I can try to find the name of the seller I bought them from on ebay.

I was looking at those "Brite Box" kits and they have the "With Fog Lights" kit and without.
I wonder what the difference is there?
Do they keep the fog lights on with the hi/low or shut them down?
If it shuts off the fogs I wonder if putting the non fog light kit would allow the fog lights to stay on?

 

Unfortunately I can't find the seller's name for that kit I bought a couple of years ago. Its been flawless since I got it. I would offer you the name of the guy I just got one from for my commuter car but one side stopped working after just 3 days so I can't recommend their stuff until its been resolved and I have at least a few trouble free months on the kit.
