HID fog light bulb..?

I was interested in installing an HID conversion kit on my fog lights. When you look up the OEM replacement bulb for the fog lights, the bulb style or number is 896.

I've done HID before that were not plug and play. It's simply a matter of sanding the hole for the bulb and then using acrylic to glue and silicone to seal it from getting any humidity.

Now I don't see this bulb number (896) on any of the conversion kits for HID. I was wondering if someone would know which one of the HID bulbs would be the closest to the 896 from factory? Maybe the H1 or H3....?

Thanks for any help or advice!

Some of the fleabayers have HID kits for 896 bulbs.

896 just means that the connection is a "L" shape type bulb so it fits in the fog light housing. Supposely all 800 series applications fit but I havent tested that out yet.

Check HID listings for 880 881 bulb styles. one bulb is straight and the other is a right angled plug. check out the new 50watt kits. Almost all HID's were 35watt until recently. Good luck, let me know how your results are.

Wish I would of read this post earlier, I ended up ordering a 35w kit that had 896 bulb model as an option: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/894-8...em280207975709 I originally posted this because I was looking for a 3000k (gold or amber) kit and didn't find one with 896 as a bulb option. Then I thought about it and went with a kit that did have 896 as an option but these are 4300k (OEM super white) and they also match my headlights which are also 4300k. Figured my truck would look like a ricer with yellow colored fog lights. Should receive them in about a week, I'll make sure to post a pic or short vid.

When you put the hid bulbs in your headlight housings did you make a cut off reflector inside for the bulb? If not, have you had any problems with blinding other drivers? Good luck with the fogs.

I took the HID's off my 89 LX coupe Mustang and installed them on the truck. At that time I didn't know what a cut off reflector was and the mustang didn't have one either.
I would think the lights do bother other drivers as they occasionally flick there lights telling me I'm in high beam. A lot and I mean lot of other local trucks run there HID's this way and have bothered the crap out of me when I drove the mustang.
If I lived in a small town and I was the only idiot that had lights like this then I would consider using a reflector or changing lights. I've been also thinking about smoking my headlights to give the truck a better look and dim the lights as well.
