Help on Porting a 14cm Housing...

Well I got a used HX35 to use as the top turbo in my twins and it has a 14cm housing with a Banks Big-Head actuator, I know...Banks ...but the whole turbo was cheaper than a new 14cm housing for my existing turbo. Anyways, I am going to try to port it some to be able to hold a few more ponies, Im just looking for suggestions on how to go about it. I know I want to open up the sides of the ports to the thickness of the gasket, and maybe dremel down the center divider some to help the wastegate, sound good? What else can I do to help it out? And can any work be done with the turbine housing still on the turbo? Thanks for any help!

Caleb,
Some people drill a hole through the the divider wall to let all 6 cylinders waste when the gate opens up.

I believe you could do that without removing the housing. You would just have to remove the wastegate actuator to be able to get behind the wastegate door. Be sure to clean out the shavings before using the turbo.

Well thanks for the advice, I was worried about doing that because I have heard it can develop cracks that way, wouldn't taking down the divided exhaust passages acomplish the same thing or am I mistaken? Thanks again!

yes, you can port back the divider and give it a nice radiused leading edge, and that should give the wastegate breathing and keep cracks at bay
