Help me w/stacks...

So I am really liking the idea of stacks. I have an 02 2500 long bed that is basically stock. I wanna run either 5 or 6 inch stacks.(dual most likely) I wanna say I saw somewhere that it is possible to run them under the bed on a long bed but not sure... Can anyone let me know if they have done this? If not what is the preffered method for in bed? I went down to Interstate turbo today to price some pieces and they wanted $116.00 for the Y-Pipe alone! I know I could pick up the square steel for way less and that would also save me on the elbows. What is everyone doing and any reason to go with 6" instead of 5"? Sound?

Thanks

Ryan

Using all that square tubing and crap is NOT the way to do it, If your going to to keep you truck and want it to look and sound good. Then do it right. Buy the KIT!!!

You cant run it under the bed...atleast on my truck you cant..fuel tank is in the way otherwise that what I would do. I think that the 6" would look way better...especially on a long bed truck or a dually. I would not do square tubing...it would look like crap...and I dont know how the sound would come out either...with a little engineering you could get a few parts and fab up your own exhaust and make it look and sound good....but I think we're all gonna have to rout the stacks in the bed instead of under...unless someone has experience with that?

Wink

For your stacks i will see if i can snap a pic of my crossover pipe that we built when i installed my 5in stacks and upload it this weekend. it was about a 2 hour fab projects but it came out awsome, i think i only spent about $200 including buying the stacks for $100. i think whole project took about 6 hours or so, nothing huge and they have been on there for about a year now with no problems. but i did have to route the stacks and crossover pipe in the box, fuel tank in the way under the bed

What makes you think the the square tubing wont work? I like the look of mine better than the acual round pipe. It dosnt stick out as much and it blends in to the bed better and its more durable. Mine is 4x6" peice of tubing thats 1/4 inch thick. It wont rust trough that.

CTDiesel02,
Check out ebay. Search for stack kits. They come with everything you need, you have the option of mitred set or turnouts, but I havent seen a 6 inch set on ebay. From what some of the guys said on here, the Ebay stack kits are at a reasonable price and sound awesome.

Ebay is an easy way to get them. Go to a Semi shop and see if they have any, they might give you a better price. Price around and dig some good deals up. I dont mind the square tubing at all. Easier to mount. If you run the round tube in the bed i sugest making a cover to keep loose stuff of the heat of the stack. Just make sure to sopst us some picswhen you get it done.

Ordered the stacks and the splitter from www.berubes.com and the rest is off the shelf NAPA parts.

Dont mean to steal your thread, but i have a question for dieseldude4x4. What parts did you order from Berubes? I live not to far away from them and if i can go down there and buy the stacks and the y pipe and other parts that i need from them cheaper then ordering a kit, then i will do that. Just wondering what parts you ordered and also do you have the parts number for them? Thanks for your help

Two 4 inch by 48 inch chrome turnouts, and the 4 inch splitter came from Berubes. The three 4 inch ells, a length of four inch flex pipe, and a length of four inch straight pipe came from NAPA with all the clamps and such. If you go to the Berubes site, they have all the parts and you can select what you want by part number. They are not cheap though, I will tell you that.

With Dieseldude4X4's setup, you can run whatever you want, square tubing etc., because all that shows is the stacks, plus you can buy shorter cheaper stacks. It's about 18" from the top of the bed to the top of the cab, so you would only need 24" stacks to clear the cab, unless you want them taller.
Thats a very nice setup, DD4X4, it's exactly what I have planned.
BTW, there is a 5" splitter on e-bay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
Also several different length and type of stacks.

the metal tube is the way to go Ive seen and helped install both. When using the metal tube u dont have to use the U clamps to hold the stack to the bed.Just buy a 5"id and weild it to the squire tube ,slide the 5"od stack into it and it will be plenty solid.
