Help me with 600HP
Help me with 600HP 12V
Highly debated topic. I am not new to the board and I have done tons of searching archives. Looking for people that are running or have run similar combos, not guesses please.
I have brand new HX35/40 hybrid with 16 exhaust housing over a brand new HT3B with 26 exhaust housing (maybe not the best choice but price was right and they are brand new). I am installing them now with proper head work of course and I need help on injectors and other fueling.
I have a guy willing to sell lightly used 5x0.018's for a very fair price. I want a wicked DD and I am OK with controlling smoke and EGT with my right foot (look at my current setup, it gets HOT so I drive by pyro and I really don't mind). Only I am driving this truck so it doesn't need to drive like a grocery getter...I am building it to be a crazy fun ride! Can I hit 600HP with this twin setup? Are the 5x18's too big? If so what injectors do I want? Are 191DV's big enough or do I need something different. I have been told to remove fuel plate completely from my 160 pump and I will not do damage, is this true?
I am planning on running 4k GSK and a Hamilton cam unless you want to suggest something else. I can get a brand new marine cam for super cheap if you think I can get away with it but I am willing to spend money where it counts!
Do I need to port/polish head while it is off? What thickness head gasket should I run.
OK tons of questions but hopefully I get some helpful feedback. You guys are a wealth of knowledge and thanks so much!!! If this belongs in engines section, sorry but feel free to move. Thanks!

I don't know as much about 12 valve's, but I can say I think you'll make 600 with that compound set up as long as you have the fuel. My compounds are a 62 65 12 over a s475, so a bit bigger, BUT they flow enough air at 62 lbs to make my edge juice on 6 and 220 injectors barely haze. Made me 618 corrected rwhp at 4,200 ft and 1400* egt's.
Hopefully others will chime in.

I would run a 4gsk and install the 60# valve springs. What pop pressure was the 5X18's set at? You know what nozzles are installed and spray angle. They are for a 12V P7100 pump. They are on the big side but should work well. We ran a set of 7*12s on a 160HP pump and the pump handle them ok.
I would remove the fuel plate, install a rack plug, rack the barrells and tweak the smoke screw (AFC, star screw) enough till you can't handle the smoke trails. Depending on you, you might want to get the pump benched for max flow. A 13mm pump just has more fueling capacity.
The HX35/40 16cm housing is on the bigger side, which helps egts but hurts spool up. What are you lash you have the valves.
I would run a dual nozzle water/methanol system. 600rwhp in a 12V is more of trial and error. Seen a few tweaked 12v trucks run that much over the years.
As for head gasket, whats your piston protrusion. I typically run a 63thou gasket (standard) as I like the stock compression ratio vs. something lower.
As for the camshaft, the colt stage 3 or hamilton 181/210 is a good cheapy, make sure it has a lift pump lobe. Get the billet retainer and have a cam that been drilled for it.
You planning on running the stock lift pump or something else. You looking for a decent flowing 12V head. I have two maxed out ported/polished heads, larger valves install available. Ones a hamilton and ones a china special.

Ok 4k gsk is definitely going in. I have stock head and pistons. Could you pm me a price on the heads please. I have not yet pulled mine so if price is right I will put my money into a done head rather than work on mine.
I have two nozzle meth now and bigger nozzles to put in and I can still increase that pump pressure quite a bit so I think I am set there.
I sucked it up and bought three piece manifold and the 5x18's tonight. They are haisley dual feeds and edge filters have been machined out. Price was right so if they don't work I will sell or trade.
What lash should I set valves at? I just set them back to the tight side of factory spec a few miles ago. Don't remember what that was right now.
As for lift pump stock would be nice. Money is a factor and you can tell it is adding up. If I need electric pump let me know and I will work on that too.
Guys thanks so much for your help!!! This is gonna be the most fun mods yet!

Sounds abit high to me, usually the pop pressure is 290-300bar for a P7100 pump. Lower pressure you have more haze at idle and smoke from incomplete combustion. Could get them tested to see what they pop at. You know what type of nozzle was used and the spray angle?
Tate you ran 560rwhp, uncorrected (last year I think). You ran the F1's 5X14's and those SDX comp 181 DV's.
I personally think that 4k gsk is one of best cheap pump mods. The cut dv's picked up 30-50rwhp on the dyno, if I remember correctly.
I picked up 70rwhp by running water/methanol, a few years ago.

As for my setup, it did 520 rwhp with 5x14's and 181's. 550 with SDX comp DV's. This was on a no-load dyno, wasn't loading the truck right. HP and tq peaks were only 100 rpm apart. Next time it dynos it will be on a load dyno.
Ya know Tate that's a great question. I was so excited I broke 600, (I was expecting a little over 550) didn't even remember to ask em what correction was that day.
I didn't even notice till I got home and looked at my sheet closer that It said 618 corrected. I seem to remember from my dyno runs at edge, depending on weather and what not that day, correction was either 1.2 and 1.3 the two 'weekend on the edge' I rolled at.

Actually that might be wrong, 1.2 and 3 seems really high in my mind. It might have been 1.12 and .13. I'm all mixed up now.
For the 618 I'm happy with what Dmitri Millard and custom auto's dyno told me.
