Help

Help im looking at getting gauges so i need reccomendations like i know i need pyro ( so pre turbo or after), boost (0-50 or less) and trans temp. My budget isnt the highest but i dont want to scimp on it. Also after this i want a way to gain some hp without spending alot i was thinking a different fuel plate. But im young and want the black smoke to pour out so what plate smokes best with a otherwise stock engine and stock auto trans. All your input will help so please do so im lost

Well, I'll start off here

Pyro should be pre turbo, much more accurate temps.

Boost, get a 50 or 60 psi. If you are getting a plate, you will need more than a 30psi gauge.

Trans temp, I'll have to let someone with an auto chime in here

Smoke, from whatrI have encountered, where there is smoke, there is high egt's. If you search the archives and look at sigs, the #10 is the best all around plate. You can smoke with a stock plate.

Before you go too far with mods, look into beefing up that tranny, again, I'll let others steer you in the right directin here as I have 5 speeds

A pre turbo EGT at bare minimum, then boost. Save your pennies for transmission work! As you can see in my sig gauges, gauges, gauges. You know what is going on then. You can't tell what effect any mods are having without them! Move the stock plate forward for a no bucks boost to performance. Do a search for plate mods and star wheel effect. Lots of info available here.

Geno's garage sells many gauges and they are pretty much the same quality. The main thing is user preference, nobody can tell what you like or don't. There are also several ways of mounting them, this is also user preference. EGT, boost and tranny temp is the way to go. After that it is a lot of reading. The first thing I did was put in a fuel plate. Not a lot of money but immediate and good results for a HP gain.

Dumb Question, but I see you're from Perry County.

Why don't you go take a look at what Enterprise has for guages? I believe they sell Stewart Warner.

Why you're there, tell them you want it to smoke . They can probably hook you up.
