Guys, I know the search for a aftermarket lift pump as be talked about before, so I'll try to be brief. I started looking for a possible replacement for the Carter. We all know about the FASS and AirDog. I wasn't real excited about the price even though they sound like great pumps, so I decided to look around.

I found something which really sounds good and would like everyones opinion. Here's the Link

My only concerns with this pump is the GPH rating. I think the vp44 requires a bit more, but I'm just going off memory.

 

The VP needs something along the lines of 100gph. Give or take 10gph.

 

Big Blue that's what I thought. The search goes on... Sounded like a darn good pump though.

 

So close and yet so far. I know the feeling though. I've replaced 4 pumps on mine. Every year I've owned, I replace a pump. I'm hoping this holley will last me at least a year and a month.

 

Get them at Napa they have a warranty as long as you own it

 

The pump look interesting, i email them for a recomendation on Dodge CTD lift pump.

Hey Guys,

Just an update. I spoke with one of the supplier of Facet/Puralator fuel pumps about our needs. He didn't have any pump that cross referenced with our Carter pump.

The story doesn't end...

He called the manufactuer with details of our pump and they are working on a design to replace our pump as we speak. Yee Haw!

I gave him my contact information along with the web-site we all love, The DTR. He is going to keep me up to date with progress.

Keep your fingures crossed boys! Our collective nightmare might be coming to a end.

 

One could only hope. Maybe this will be a cheaper alternative to the FASS or RASP.

 

Going off their price structure for pumps already in production, my guess is, they will be cheaper.

 

Good News about a replacement. DPP (Makers of the FASS) has made a performance fuel pump for the big 3 diesels. It is bacily the same pump as in the FASS but with out the filter, water seporator and air filtertering. They have 2 differant settings, 90 GPH and 150 GPH. The first FASS systems used the 150 GPH but now he offers A LOT quiter 90GPH. (Thoes of you with a 150 FASS know what i mean!) These pumps are rated for 300,000 miles. Prices are around $369.00 for the pump. If its like the FASS, it uses 3/8" line from the tank to pump to fuel filter housing. Should be lots more dependable than the Carter Snot Pump. I think it was a smart move. Still more then a stock LP but Less then a FASS. These were just released after SEMA. ALSO they have a convertion that allows you to run your FASSed truck while you fill up with out blowing Diesel over you, the pump and the guy accros from you! In the ball park of $25 IIRC. Just FYIs

Anybody found a link to that DPP pump yet. I need to do something soon.....stock LP is on it's way out.

 

The newer FASS (#2) should solve problems for you guys up north in the snow country. Also you Off Roaders.
Won't extend below the frame rail like the filters on the FASS 1.

Dan, Any idea how the "fill up while running" mod works? Please let me know if you (or Joe @City Muffler) get any in your shop.
