Head Removal

Is there anything i need to know about removing the head on a 12v before i do it. Besides where everything goes.

Dont forget to pull your coolant temp sensor. Its on the drivers side far back under the cowl, its a pain to get to. Also to there are two plugs in the cowl. These are for the rear cylinder pushrod removal. Other than that there is not much that is tricky.

do the 12v have that tricky pain in the butt fuel return line at the back of the head? i know on my 24v i think that was the worst part

No, they have the fuel return external that hooks up to all 6 injectors with banjo bolts. It runs across the head between 4-5 or 5-6, can't remember where, but it has to get unhook either way.

Good call on the coolant sensor, it was the one I missed when I did my 12v, had to get the old soldering gun out and fix the wires I broke.

Flip the rear lift hook over and hook the chain short with an engine hoist it should come right out of there. Just take your time and get a helper if you can.
