Head

If I put an o-ringed head on my truck is there any advantage of putting in studs rater than new bolts?

much better holding force! Better seal and allows you to run more boost

Well that would hold true if you overtorque them. Whats the specs? TIA

The torque specs on studs is greater than bolts.

The reason people go to studs rather than the stock bolts is because of the greater clamping force. I'll try and tell you how it was explained to me. The stock headbolts are stretched and weakend in two ways. They are stretched verticaly when tightened and also in a twisting motion when the head of the bolt is twisted. The studs on the other hand will only stretch a certain amount through the lenght of the stud but not in a twisting motion because the nut is not formed to the top of the stud. This is also the reason studs can be reused and headbolts cannot. Plus the studs are made out of a stronger metal and can be run down tighter.

Studs are far superior to bolts as far as holding capabilities. Of course like everything else, there are better quality studs than others, and everything has a breaking/holding limt.

Do not think that torque recommendations tell all about the clamping force- it does strongly depend on the thread used. The stock bolts have a much steeper thread than the studs, so for the same amount of torque the studs have much more clamping force. Add this to the fact that the bolt has to stand the torsion while tightening, and the special washers used with the studs that reduce the friction losses while torqueing them and you see why studs are so popular.
