H2 wheels ?
H2 wheels ?
I know they fit after some machining. I don't have a machine shop. Any ideas how much this would cost me. Also, are there any differences between model years? I have a 97.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I would worry that a 97 has saggen enough in the last 8 years to cause rubbing poblems, not the best method but without a machine shop you can get away with using a hole saw to do the work, you just need to get creative about centering the drill bit. usnig a round puck of wood the same size of the original hub hole with a center hole/ bit guide could do it for you. after holesawing you will need to clean up the sloppy hole some. minor bit wander will be covered by your caps. good luck.
I thought I heard that it had to be within .00100" or somthing? There was a post that claimed the rim was (held on) more by the center than the lugs themselves?
I would like to pick up a set aslo, but became worried when I heard about the machine work thing.

The reason for the accuracy is that the wheels must be hub centric or centered by the hub. Used to be wheels were centered by the lug nuts themselves. If it was me I would make sure the utmost care was take to ensure that the machining is done as precisely as possible to help elliminate any out of round conditions that might contribute to any balance or driveablility issues.
CTD_Neil,
I guess some people just want a different look. I have heard of wheel and tire packages even cheaper than what getblown 5.9 mentioned. Even with the cost of machining, you can get big wheels and tires at a fairly reasonable price. If I had a 2500, I might even consider this mod.

I want them for a different look mostly. It seems like everyone around here has aftermarket wheels. I could probably say that most look the same. No one has H2 wheels on their Dodge yet. A little bit bigger tire would be nice too. Also, I hear they can be picked up for relatively low cost.

ME, personally thinks the H-2 rims look like the stock dakota/durango rims I bought a set off e-bay for a buddies 04 for $79 all 4 brand new, never been drivin, the guy took them off at dealership! cost me $100 to ship from Cali I then found a guy in central WI that had a dozen sets of 4 35x12.5x17 BFG krawlers that got used 1 time then taken off- He was a CORR offroad racer. $375 a set of 4 and we picked them up! cost us $45 to have the wheels machined at a budies shop on the CNC machine. so THESE WHEELS CAN BE HAD CHEAP!! 1500 is a litlle steap. just look around a bit!
With a little customization the 3G Dodge caps can be used on the hummer wheels, also not all hummer center caps say hummer on them.
That price is way out of line GetBlown, I see them easily under half of that.

brandon.
Just call around to the local Hummer dealers, ask for the parts department and ask thenm if they have any H2 takeoffs, tire rims.... if they sound confused explain briefly, if they still don't get it cut your time loss and hang up.
