gsk problem

I installed a #10 fuel plate in my truck 3 weeks ago
the truck is all stock and after a little adjustment was totally blow away by the power gain
now today I installed a 3K gsk and now I have no power didnt touch anything other than the gsk
followed the directions took 3 little springs 1 shim and the stock spring seat
installed spring seat and 2 springs from the kit and the stock large spring reset the keeper and went for a drive the truck will now rev to 3000 k but there is no
power it feels stock it runs fine
just before it would put you back in the seat and go real nice

any help
Thanks Steve

If you didn't change the plate I suspect you lost boost signal to the AFC.
Check the connections.
Did you go in through the side or top?

Thru the side is my preferred method for GSK. Tried it once through the top and got nervous about loosing parts.

Did you do anything with the AFC housing? IT really sounds as if you lost boost signal to the AFC diaphragm. Check your fittings around the boost elbow for leaks.
If you moved the AFC and didn't get it aligned to the plate the foot will hang up and hold back on fueling.

You governor arm is now out of adjustment, and needs to be adjusted!

Been there done that. My truck had a lot of pull with just a plate. I put a 3k GSK in it, and it revved good then, but it lost the grunt it had. Finally figured out that the governor arm was hitting on the wrong spot on the fuel plate after i did the GSK. Once you get that adjusted, watch out

It is a little bit of a pain to adjust it, but it will fix your problem. When you put heavier springs in the governor, it moves the governor arm to a different spot on the plate some, putting it in a place on the plate where the fueling isnt nearly as agressive.

Here is a link that goes into detail on how to adjust it. Let us know when you get this done.

Also, a plate such as a #0 which is flat all the way up is not affected by the governor levers position, but your #10 you installed is curved at the top and the bottom to cut the fuel back. Im willing to bet your governor arm is starting out either close to the top or the bottom on a section of the plate where it is holding fuel back pretty hard.

To check this before you mess with it, leave the truck off, and hold your shutoff solenoid up, either by hand, or turn the key on and pick it up so that it holds itself up. Then apply throttle until you see the arm come forward and touch the plate. You should be able to see where it is hitting on the plate at that point. Let me know if you have any problems!

Eric

A 3K GSK doesn't change a 913 pump much. I haven't had a governor lever problem with them. A #10 plate is fairly forgiving, too.

Im still betting on the governor arm. It doesent take much change to make a big difference in the governor arm.

Is the shutoff solenoid pulling all the way up? If its not, it will cut the fuel back a decent bit. We had that problem on my cousins 97 puller one time. If the governor arm is right, and the plate is forward, then you shouldnt have lost power by doing the GSK. Mine gained a lot by doing the GSK.

I have gone to 3200 by accident I was a little ****** and was driving it a little too hard dont know if it will go higher dont want to find out
I really dont know enough about these truck yet to go grinding my own plates altho it looks pretty straight forward

What I have found so far is things seem harder when your reading about it but are pretty simple when you do and Hmmmm that was easy

A friend with a 6L ford said I should change the ramp in the fuel pump and change my timing

Is that the same as what I did to the fuel plate ??
