Anyone know if any year of the 2nd gen had grab handles on both front pillars,I have a 2001.5 and it only has one on the passenger side, also was there ever any grab handles above the font door windows.

Ive only seen them on the passenger side a pillar. Come to think of it, ive seen very few grab handles on the driver side of any vehicle. I guess the manf. wants you to keep your hands on the wheel.... Go figure

I've been thinking about adding one to the driver's side pillar. Anyone know if it can't be done because of what's inside the pillar, etc. I'd think if you were careful, one could be screwed on.

Couldn't be any worse than the driver's grab handle on the 3rd gens! Solid mount with a flimsy plastic boss inside the A-Pillar - Popeye soon discovers that his weight will break off the boss (twice!) - working on my third one now...

I thought I read someplace before, that the holes are there in the drivers pillar and also on the roof above the doors to mount the handles, they just started to delete some of these items after 99 or 2000, like the rear cup holder and a couple of other things, but I cant seem to find the info now.Might have been just a thought, too old to remember for sure.

I'll go check for any holes this morning and let you know. A handle on the roof like the passenger side would be nice, too. I've noticed that after going to taller tires that it's harder to climb in.

Yep, I've got two handles on the passenger side. One on the pillar and one on the roof above the door window. Haven't looked for holes yet.

Okay, so there are mounting holes for a handle on the driver's side above the door in the same spot as the passenger side and although there are no holes for a handle in the driver's side pillar, there is nothing in the way that would prevent mounting a handle there. Now I have another project! Also, I do have the rear cup holder as well.

It's just for a little assist Timmay, I don't expect to put a lot of stress on it. And, I've had some large people use the passenger side with no problem.
