Good combo????

ok heres my plan after a bunch of reading and asking questions i have this in mind. 370 injectors, #10 plate, 14cm wastegated housing, con "o" clutch, 4" exhaust, straight piped, pump timed at 16.5, bhaf and some gages for my new truck. will this be a good all around truck as can i still haul 20k gross with out any major probles besides watching the pyro? what kind dyno #s are we talking about? all input would be appreciated. mike

Re:Good combo????

With the #10 plate and 370's you may need to look something other than the 14cm housing. Might need to push more air into the motor so the EGT's dont get excited..If you are going to be pulling or do some racing with the truck..might consider one of the KSB-1's(KwikSpool B-1).
Check with Rod @ Wildcat Diesel..he could direct you down the right path so you dont have to re-visit it again. gunracer1,

I'd say you're on the right track. Cosider the HX40 compressor housing and pinwheel (hybrid) as well as the 14cm2 WG housing. Talking $555-600 there. Maybe stepping on up to the PDR HX40 or B1 makes more sense.

Vin

Re:Good combo????

Well i got the 14cm. housing for free so i was going to try it out and see if i could keep the eg temps in check, if not i may put some twins on there, just because i can do that about as cheap as i can a bigger turbo. i have fabbed miles of stainless tubing, plus it would look cool as hell. but thanks for the input guys, keep it comming. mike

Re:Good combo????

You should be a little over 400hp with that setup;D I agree with the other guys about going to an HX40 or other larger turbo. You might also want to consider the South Bend con ofe instead of the con o.

Re:Good combo????

peirs said to watch out with the ofe on a dually, they have ripped the center out of a few of them in the 12" size on the dually trucks. said i would be safer with the o because it will just slip and not leave me stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Re:Good combo????

The center section of the 13" con ofe better suited to a dually or high powered truck. I've got one and so far its holding up to the power.

Re:Good combo????

When it was time to replace my stock clutch..I talked to both Peter(SBC) and Rod(Wildcat)..and both of them told me the same thing. If you are going to up the hp and tow..the 13" upgrade is the way to fly. With the 13" upgrade it has more meat in the center...Yes it is more but..I wanted to install a clutch that I dont have to worry about. And I believe that this suits my needs..(also my wants)..
I will go one step further...SBC has customer servivce that is unbelievable. Save your money and get the best..

Rick

Re:Good combo????

I would go with the 16cm housing versus the 14. It will flow better and keep the egts more in check.

Re:Good combo????

Here is one that you can chew on for a while....I talked to Piers back in the summer about the differences in the 14cm wastegated housing and the 16cm non-wastegated...He said that the 14 cm wastegated would flow more air than the 16cm non wastegated...

Rick
