alright finally getting some stuff done this weekend with the help of josh petters we will be installing my gauges, grinding a #100 plate and advancing my timing i think i'll put it at 16.5-17* would that be ok
You probably won't gain much by going over about 16* other than cylinder pressures. If you are looking at major bombing down the road, you probably shouldn't go over about 15.5*. If you run too much timing you run the risk of popping a head gasket (or so I am told).

yeah thats what i thought but dont alot of people around here run 16.5-17* this is whaer i get hung up because alot of people say what you did and thatn some say 16.5-17 so what i am looking for would be pros/cons of setting timing at the different degrees thanks
IMO, 17* will be just fine and will compliment the #100 plate nicely.
As MnTom mentioned, cylinder pressures can become an issue with overly advanced timing but at your power and boost levels it really won't be an issue at 17*. If you were running more fuel and boost and were towing heavy, less timing might be better but not at this point.

I wouldn't go any farther than 17°, though. You just don't NEED that much timing with relatively mild fueling. Lasercuts, 370s, etc would change that, lol.
The nice thing about more timing at light loads is the mpg gain.
