gear driven hydraulic pump

Does anyone know where I can find a hydraulic gear pump that will bolt up to the spot where the vacuum pump is?

I guess I need the bolt pattern, (SAE ?)
the shaft size, etc..

does anyone know if the vacuum pump is a 1:1 ratio with the engine?

I want to get a pump to mount there to run my steering, winch, and a few other goodies

ok how about this, does anyone know what size the shaft is on the Dodge vacuum pumps? and is it tapered with a keyway or straight?

Give PSC a try http://www.pscmotorsports.com/

As for a hydraulic winch a PTO hydro pump would be best.

Im trying to get away from using a "power steering" type pump. lots of people have problems with the PSC and other companies pumps. I want to go industrial gear pump, they last thousands of hours, they are cheap, and have multiple GPM/pressure options. just need to set it up right with a big resivoir and cooler, big hoses, manual valves, and filters. I plan on running my steering with it, my winch, and eventually a hydro driven air compressor and alternator type cheap stick welder setup.

just trying to figure out what size shaft and mount pattern to buy.

already have an electric vacuum pump from a newer ferd diesel to aleviate loosing the vacuum pump.

If memory serves the gear is made onto the vacuum pump shaft. I believe it's a 1/1 ratio but am unsure. Something I've toyed with a couple times is replacing the vacuum/ps pump combo. we use with a air compressor/hyd. pump combo. off of an ISC. Haven't measured it out yet but it looks like a direct bolt-on.

I got the compressor/pump combo but it is too long and will hit the motor mount. the pattern for the pump itself is too small to bolt to the engine.

I thought about moving the mount but it would take a lot of fab work for a compressor I won't use very often. I am planning on running a small hydraulic motor coupled to a york compressor for a simple hydraulic on board air setup.

Lance, I have been searching for a PTO pump to drive my hydro winch. "Cheap" is a relative term, they are about $700 new; ebay has them sometimes bur $100-200 but a chance that the right model will sell on ebay is really slim. But I think that a PTO pump is the best thing for this, even though MileMarker says that use of power steering pump is 100% adequate.

I can't do a PTO pump, dont have the HD transfer case.

also I have the Warn winch, not the mile marker which has a much larger Parker motor. it would be alot slower than the mile marker if I ran it off the regular PS pump.

this motor has threads for 7/8 inch fittings haha

Lance, we've been batting around the on board air thing for a while without a truly cheap alternative. Here's a search on threads here. You might find something useful in one of them. If you do come up with a solution, please share it. Inquiring minds want to know.

It sounds to me like you need a hydraulic pump like is used on snowplows; The pump is belt driven, and can be mounted anywhere space permits. The pulley has an electro-magnetic clutch (like a/c), and only pumps when the clutch is engaged. Any snowplow dealer can accommodate you. Good luck

I found one of those kits, but it places the pump above the alternator. I didn't like it because the kit is like 1300 bucks, and doesn't come with any hoses or anything. also I am worried about cavitating the pump with it mounted so high. and it may get in the way of my future twin turbo setup.

but for you guys interested it is made by Deweze.

Does anyone know if the vacuum pump shaft is tapered or is it straight with a keyway?

Here ya go buddy, here is the PS pump shaft :

And here's the vac pump shaft and gear :

They look more like interlocking shafts rather than a traditional press fit or tapered shafts.

im actually going to be mounting the pump directly to the engine. not to the vacuum pump. I need to know if the gear on the vacuum pump is a tapered shaft, with a key or a straight shaft? if anyone has one out I would like the measurements of the shaft diameter and keyway size. also the measurement from the mounting surface of the pump to the center point of the gear.

Whoops, wrong end . I believe it is pressed onto a tapered shaft. I do recall my pump having a "nose" on it if that helps any.

Looking further at the vendor that sold my reseal kit I don't see a keyway of any sort. http://www.fixinrams.com/Quickstart/...b/000_0096.jpg

You could probably ask Pete Gould at www.fixinrams.com . He's rebuilt a lot of these pumps and I bet he could get the measurements for you.
