Gauge pod install tip.
Gauge pod install tip.
When I installed my gauges, I just used the gauge pod without mounting it to the orginal pillar cover. The problem I had was after installing the pillar pod it wouldn't stay put. I was going to use a long screw, but the spot where I wanted to put the screw was making is difficult, because of the angle. I also didn't want to send a drill bit in ***** nilly because of the wires might get damaged. I could have got around it, but I decided to try a different approach.
I went to Lowes and found some clear (round) bumper that go on the bottom of vcr's etc. so you can slide them around without scratching the surface.
I found if you scrape the adhesive off the back and clean it really good and apply a very small drop of crazy glue in its place, it works very well. If you don't remove the adhesive it will work itself loose after a couple of days.
So, all you have to do then is push your pod snug and apply the bumper to the windshield next to the leading edge of the pod and Bam! no more loose pod.
Or you can just screw your pod to the pillar frame.
P.S.
I really don't know if crazy glue will come off the glass should I take the pod out, so if this is a concern investigate by trying it on another piece of glass.
I only used one bumper to begin with, still holding.
EDIT: Pictures are in my gallery.

Whatever's easiest for you. It sounds really slick. Is it thick enough to hide the wires next to the windshield? I completely removed my original pod because I had so many wires, plugs, and hoses that it was just to bulky to fit on there. I've got to remove the pod anyways to play with the shape and design a little bit and I might want to try this out. Thanks. My email address is bigbluedodge4x4@hotmail.com
I guess you could, but I didn't. I wanted to have the option of removing the pod if needed. Once you push the pod were you want it, apply bumper thingy to the windshield, right next to the pod and hold for around 30 seconds crazy glue dries quick. Once you let go of the bumper thingy the pod will push against it, thus holding the pod firmly in place.
If you notice, your windshield has a black border, I used that as a reference point to line up the pod. Pushing the pod in the middle will give the best result. You can even see the black border in the pics. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...42MVC-010F.JPG
Hope all that makes sense.
