finally have my fuel gauge ready to be put on its all set up with all the fittings and lines and pod to hold it---which is junk to fit an isspro gauge in, i did more cutting and chopping than i wanted to. ANYWAYS to power the gauge im figuring i can tap into the switch for the lights, pulled the switch and theres a mess of wires there. Which can i tap into to get power when the running lights and headlights are switched on. or i read it goes into the dimmer. any thoughts. thank you

 

i wired mine in with the dimmer switch. i forgot which one it is maybe a brown wire on my 99. if you want to be sure use a volt meter

 

Not sure if your '01 is the same, but try this:

o1 is different but i believe the brown wire is the same dimmer works great

 

Be careful not to draw to much juice off that dimmer wire if you actually dim the lights. The switch is known to overheat and metldown.
