Gauge install

So, after reading this forum for a while, i've decided gauges are next. Any help would be great, i assume trans temp is a simple splice into line, but EGT and Boost, do i need to drill into manifold, and if so, how do you keep everything clean (no metal shavings in turbo!)? After i get gauges installed i'm going to do some tests, then straight pipe my factory exhaust. Mike

hi
look for a 1/8 pipe plug on driver side of intake for a place to connect the boost line .

you will have to drill and tap a hole for egt probe .

i held a vaccum cleaner hose beside drill and tap for mine , then i used a small magnet in the hole . worked great .

Remember to drill off center in the ext. manifold. I forgot about that and re-learned the hard way.

For the boost line you can drill the intake horn, or you can splice into the intake line that goes back over to the wastegate.

For drilling the manifold, first one I did I drilled a couple revolutions, cleaned the chips, drilled, cleaned the chips, etc. until I was finally through. Took a pencil magnet and looked for chips. Then I greased a tap, and tapped the hole. Then used the magnet again to look for chips. Worked fine, but was tedious. Last one I did, I let the engine run. Drilled all the way through, then tapped it. No magnets, no grease. Only thing you'll want is a pair of gloves, as the exhaust does get warm after a while.
