G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
Has anyone tried this little gadget? I am thinking about getting one, but I was wanting to know if anyone has used this. I have heard the older G-Tech worked great and was pretty darn close to the dyno #s.

http://www.gtechpro.com
Re:G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
I have the old G-tech and it was within 5 hp of my dyno run on a Mustang 1750. The interesting thing is that if you use the online HP calculators based on ET then all 3 were within 10hp.

The new pro comp even has a shift light, torque readings, to much too list.
Re:G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
Its funny this topic came up. I have an "old" style G-tech sitting in my truck right now, I just borrowed it tonight from a friend and I am planning on trying it out tomorrow to see how it compares to the runs I did at the strip.

John

Monty,
I have one myself. I have not taken the time to find that pefect flat, deserted stretch of road so I can do multiple runs though.
I read a bunch of reviews and came to the conclusion that 1. it is fairly accurate, if you average and get the weight in there right, and 2. even if it's off a little, it will still give a good representation of what difference that little tweak or bomb you just added did.
I got mine off of Ebay for 60.00. Don't pay more elsewhere.

Chris

I've owned a Gtech Pro for a couple of years now, but it is hard to use, adjust, and the road is supposed to level for accurate readings.
Here's a much better computer for not much more money. http://www.tazzo.com/tazzo/tazmnt.HTM
It is self leveling and is able to give hp readings without going thru the whole quarter mile. You can program it to give a hp reading in just one gear so that gear shifts don't foul up the readings.

I'd be interested in learning more real-world use on that unit. I agree with what you said about the G-Tech Pro, and that's why I'm asking. I might just upgrade.

Thanks,
Chris
Re:G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
Stamey,

I haven't tried one yet, but if you poke around their site a bit you'll find some comparisons with other computers, including the Gtech Comp. Not having to level it and it's ability to compensate for non level roads sure makes it appealing to me.
Re:G-Tech Pro Comp Meter
I have one of the Gtech pro copms, and am not all that happy with it. Initially It worked pretty well, and I was happy, but back in December, Gtech released their firmware upgrade to add some features and fix a few problems. Thinking that improvements would be good, I downloaded into my unit, and haven't been too happy with it since. First of all, they removed the option to download the last stored run into excel or other spreadsheep program. The company, Tesla, has been promissing to have the PC software available since Christmas. Every couple months they change the release date on there website. Pisses me off. I understand there are delays associated in the development of any hardware or software product, but this is getting a little rediculous. Just my $.02
Mark
The reviews are what convinced me to try it. I'll be looking for reviews now.

Thanks,
Chris
