Fun drive to work...

My truck is way too easy to cruise at 90-100mph. i have now 3 time in the past couple of weeks seen my speedo on the peg (that 120 in my truck) Not a big deal really, but i am rolling on 37" super swampers that i dont think are speed rated. This morning i found myself again clipping along at about 90 ish and jimminy cricket told me i need to be a good boy and do the speed limit. RIGHT! However, i did slow down a little to 75 and set the cruise. I kicked my shades on and sat back and just drove - Life is good. About that time the sidewall of my front right tire decides to say * bye bye and it blew to pieces. So at 75 mph i go from a 37" tire to nothing. I steered twards the blown tire, and that is the only thing that kept the truck from rolling. i then slid down a slight grade for 100+ feet and came to a stop about 5 feet from a concrete wall.

Hmm lotsa HP can sometimes be bad

Ouch.....sorry to hear that. At the very least you are ok, so its not all bad...parts and sheetmetal can be replaced (I know, I know doesnt make you feel much better).....

Interco tires arent the best choice under a heavy engine like this....what kind of wear do you get from the swampers??

Good luck.

Ouch. I guess that answers the question as to the speed rating on them. Glad your ok. What did it do to the rim? I'm guessing you are going to need a new rim. Oh well. At least no one was hurt.

Oofta, that sounds like you might need some carpet cleaner Have you looked into BFG or Goodyear MT/R's? From what I hear, they are supposed to be a lot more stable at high speeds.

What did you expect? Thats an accident waiting to happen.

You are lucky you are alive. This reminds me of a saying my uncle often tells me, "If you going to be stupid, you had better be tough!" I am not flaming you man, but I hope you learn something from this.

Hopefully you have the discounttire road hazzard warranty, and get them replaced for free.

i have 44" tsls on my cruiser and it is dangerous over 60, i can't imagine running super swampers the speed you are. you are lucky to be alive, and lucky you didn't kill anyone else. super swamper are worthless street tires, even in the ssr's. get a set of bfg's or some mtr's on that thing before you do some real damage. ssr's have been falling apart since they came out, and this is on toyotas and jeeps.
