the "dodge house" won't sale you the factor replacement one that is on the side of the motor, but you can locate one from a auto parts store. I found one at car quest. The "dodge house" will want to put the new style ( in tank pump) on. I would recomend get a performance inline pump such as Air Dog, Fass, PPE, or Holy Blue. I put gauges on my truck first before any mods, and in stock form with a new factory lift pump on the side of the motor, I could pull my fuel pressure gauge down to the danger zone (4-5psi) with ease. Your vp44 (injection pump) relies on a good stead supply of fuel to cool and lubricate the pump. Your lift pump can go out without giving any indication which will soon kill your vp44. So with that said you should get a fuel pressure gauge and a upgraded lift pump even in stock form

i agree completely with the above post. as for the lift pump you have now, its locate just below and slight rearward of the fuelfilter. you only need basic hand tool and some patience to get it changed. A friend may help too. i unhooked the stock fuel line from the inlet of the pump at the quick disconnect, not the banjo fitting. Then i removed the banjo filling off the inlet of the fuel filter housing. the unbolt it from the bottom of mounting plate. once on the work bench i remember the orientation of the fitting can changed them to the new pump. then i reversed the uninstall process. the friend may come in handy when you go to hook up the quick disconnect to the pump. i am short (5'7") and had to lay almost on the engine to do it and if that hose falls right you cant reach it, and i didnt want to get up so i had someone go under the truck and send it in the right direction. but i recommed upgrading to something more reliable and something mount close to the taken on a frame rail and not in the tank

5'7" Isnt Short !!!! ..... HAHA, but i agree, i just did mine out in the snow replacing the stock one with a FASS DDRP. I was careful pulling the old one off and it took a little time just because of the tight areas to squeeze your hand down. ( I think i used 3 different wrenches) Make sure you dont drop your banjo bolt round gaskets. But the re-install was twice as quick.....Patience is key and a little parts bucket to put stuff into is a help as well.
